Looking for help with an HQ

I am hoping someone can give me a rotation I can use to HQ a Dark Chestnut Rod. This is not about leveling its about getting the HQ item. Currently my levels are ALC 53 ARM 53 BSM 54 CRP 56 CUL 51 GSM 54 LTW 53 WVR 53. My CRP stats are Craft 496 Control 417 CP 327. I have tried various guides, sites etc but cannot seem to find what I need therefore I am asking the community to please post a rotation that might work for me in this case. Thank you!

I might not have the best method, but regardless get HQ mats. That always helps. You have I guess all the crafting class up there. So you have most of the cross class skills this might need.

First of all. Be aware of your Progress. Because my method is tight and is usually aware that I can only finish a thing within two Standards Synths or at min two Careful Synth 2s.

So I generally start things off with
    Comfort Zone
    Inner Quiet
(Now if a Good appeared and you have Tricks of the Trade, I eat the Good with a Tricks to fuel a Basic Touch instead of mean Hasty Touch)
Steady Hands 2 (This will help for Hasty Touch, but Hasty Touch is mean... so don't expect perfection at any given time...)
(From this point on, I either use goods on Precise Touch or a Tricks if I'm in need of 20 cps)
    Waste Not
Hasty Touch x1-4 (Use Precise if Good. Or Basic if you Tricks a Good before the Steady Hands 2)
(If you used a Precise after Steady Hands 2 but before Waste Not then Hasty Hands no more than 3 times

Now at this point you should be with 15/20 or 40/50 Durability
I'm reckless and I had I think more CP than you at that level. Maybe... So I would use a...
Advanced Touch (But its not necessary) also all goods at this point you should Tricks instead of Advanced Touch use with a crit. (Only because its a 90% and can fail)
    Master Mend!
(at this point I either attempt to squeeze out another (Steady Hands 2/Hasty Touch)
Or! (Especially if you cannot hit Progress Completion in 2 Standards or Careful Synth 2s (Which is weaker than Standard Synth but is 100% Success rate)
    Innovate
    Great Strides
(Now this is where things get fuzzy for me as I'm still trying to figure if one or the other is stronger.
Steady Hands 2 (If not a specialist) -> Byregot's Blessing
(If a specialist) Byregot's Brow (As its 100% for specialists, now if its superior to Blessing I cannot say, but I have been using it more even without a Specialist Which means Steady Hands 2 Before it if not a specialist)
This should hopefully get you 100% or at least darn close Quality (The more HQ mats the better I say. This changes in SB to not needing as many as often)

After this and hopefully, you have a good dose of CPs still!
    Steady Hands 2
    Standard Synth 2 (till completion)
Or Careful Synth 2 (If you can finish it with carefuls)
(If its hard to make it within 2 and the thing you are making is your level or high it seems and you have the CPs for it? Use an Ingenuity 2 before the Standard Synths/Carefuls)

(As I say, though, this might not be perfect. It worked for me through all of HWs, but I had crafted HQ'd or bought all my CP boosting Rightside. So try it if you wish, but someone might have a better way.)

Edit: I got silly. You wanted a rod which should be 70 durabilities so you have more Progress completion room, the rotation I have should still function)

Guides can give you very nice ideas of combos and ways of fitting the skills together. But ultimately, you gotta come up with the best rotation that fits your own stats. So you gotta do the math yourself.
496 craftsmanship is a tad bit lower than what's needed to complete the item in 4 strokes of CS II (see below):

*BTW, do not trust the calculation 100% on progress on a calculator. It is sometimes a tad bit off, so never get just enough craftsmanship to "just complete" the item. You will likely need a bit more than that.

To circumvent with this problem, you can use Ingen2 to buy a bit more progress. The best way to use it of course is to fit it inside the finisher phase, so it buffs the Blessing a bit too:

But as you can see, even with 9 successful Hasty Touches, you're still unable to HQ it with confidence. Unfortunately, all CP is already utilized (with only 3 CP left). So there is not very much you can do with this amount of stats unless you take a few Trick of Trades a long the way to gain more CP.

But check this out, even if you eat a 37-gil NQ Stone Soup (purchased from the Gold Saucer) to get 17 more CP, you can already add in Innovation to your rotation:

And that greatly increased your HQ rate by another 10%.

It is obvious at this point that more craftsmanship and more CP will help you tremendously.

So, I think the ultimate solution for you is to just eat a Baked Onion Soup.

Even an NQ one will add 4% craftsmanship and 10% CP to you.

And with all that extra craftsmanship and CP, you now no longer need Ingen2 to finish the item in 4 strokes. And by removing Ingen2, you now have a lot more CP to be used for Precise Touch and Basic Touch:

In fact, because you now no longer need Ingen2 to push progress, you can scatter your CS II everywhere in the rotation. This buys you more steps in the middle of the rotation, allowing you to use a second Comfort Zone, which grants you EVEN MORE CP!

With this much CP, you can now freely use more Precise Touches and Basic Touches to secure the IQ stacks. This is quite important as you can NEVER expect 9 to 10 Hasty Touches to all land successfully. So the Precise Touches (which grants 2 IQ stacks), will be of a big big help.

In fact, for the finisher phase because you now no longer use Ingen2, you can try to wrap the last touch and the blessing together under 1 Innovation...
SH II -> Innovation -> Basic Touch -> Great Strides -> Blessing
That adds a lot of powers.

Keep in mind that if after pressing Great Strides, a Good shows up, then skip all the remaining buffs, and just Blessing it right away. If Excellent shows up, you can even skip Great Strides.

You have very low CP. I'm at about your crafting level and I'm closing in on 373 CP after stone soup with some HQ level 52/53 accessories and CP materia in nearly every piece. It's easy to get Cunning III and IVs from the Ixalt Beast Tribes so just do that if you don't want to buy the materia.

My rotation is the same as what others say. For the 80 dura ones, I HQ the mats then start with CZ,IQ and then Ingen II to push the quality with CSII. I CSII to within 1 finish, taking Tricks for any goods, then Master Mend back up to 80 dura. With WN, Precise Touches, SHII and keep 100 CP at the end for Innovation, Great Strides and Brygoets. If I started with HQ mats, that is almost guaranteed to HQ.

    Good luck!

Since others have posted rotations, other basic things to keep in mind.

Your stats > gear level. All ilevel does for crafters is raise the amount you can cap out the stat through melds, or the stat itself. So a lot of times you can hold onto lower level accessories if they have been melded with better stats. Well it also gives you defense too...but...

In HW, ARR left side gear is completely phased out at level 55, by then you can purchase gear in Moghome or near Zenith. So if you haven't now is a good time to check them out.

If you got got time to get some materia from the Ixali go for it. It's nice to get a few melds in when you can. You no longer need carbonized matter to melds (grade 1 is just a quest turn in for level 20 gatherers) so go for it.

Don't be afraid to take food. In Foundation for 415 Gil you can get Dagger soup if you feel you need more Control (which helps with quality) or if you feel more you need CP go for Stone Soup https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Stone_Soup for a measly 37 gil. Also, you can take 2 of the same food (at the same quality) at once now so may as well extend the duration

Saying that. CP is generally the better choice since it allows more ways to fit in rotations/skills, ie not relying on hasty touch as much due to its RNG.

It's not a bad idea to always try to do a Careful Synth II in the first step to see how much progress you make in a recipe at your current level. That always helps to see how many steps it will take to finish a craft.

    HQ Baked Onion Soup

    Comfort Zone
    Inner Quiet
    Steady Hand II
    Waste Not I

Basic Touch x 4 - Use a Precise touch when Good Procs
    Careful Synthesis II
    Masters Mend
    Steady Hand II
    Basic Touch x 2
    Great Strides
Innovation (math out your CP, if you can't afford this it's the skip out)
    Byregot's Blessing

Careful Synthesis II Until you complete.

If you are using mostly HQ parts the 6 stacks of inner Quiet will get you to 100% easy. With a few Precise double stacks you can do this with NQ stuff. In addition, the early Careful Synth will give you an idea how many more you need to complete. If it's more than you have you can trade a touch after Masters Mend for another Careful Synth or standard Synth as it will be during a Steady Hand Phase.

This rotation works on 35, 40, 70 and 80 Dura recipes and holds up right to 60 with white recipes. 62-70 you will have Careful Synth III and it works just fine with that adjustment as well. I've never over melded gear, I do target 360 CP and rely on HQ Baked Onion for 400+ to make this happen. In truth though, that leaves me with 22 CP at the end of this rotation so you can do it with your current, you just need to modify it a bit.
