How do you remember mechanics?

For myself, I tend to practice and understand the general marker for the mechanic. For example, group of arrows pointing at a player, that's a stack mechanic. Purple eye coming from the mob, that's a gaze (turn your back). The main reused mechanics have a specific marker to identify them. Learn that and you'll have no problems with the mechanic anywhere, for the most part.

Yep. Starboard is a nautical term for I believe left side (either that or right side). So Port/Star = Left/Right (where the attacks will hit). Fore/Aft = Front/Back.
