Unless your personally going after HQ items I would strongly recommend just letting your retainers gather and have them well geared for both HQ and normal. I would focus on DoH for faster gill making. My set up is;

2 BTN = Max out gathering and Perception nice mix of HQ items and normal
3 MNR = same
1 FSH = More for gathering items for potions
1 DRK = Leather and bone
1 DRG = Leather and bone

Note* you can get more retainers for a monthly fee of MogStation. and space isn't bad either.

You can sell items for daily turns in HQ sell for nice prices.

Average in a day of retainer alone just gathering items for turn ins = 500k - 800k

If I use them and keep HQ items on sale gear wise 60-65 gear 900k - 1.5mill depending on what I'm focusing on.

If you keep them fully stocked 20/20 to sell you can make some nice gill in a week. If you have an FC focus on cross breading to get Blood peppers. They sell very well.

Knowing Leve items helps a lot as well.

My FC only have a small plot which I'm free to use as I please.
I'm cross-breading for blood peppers trying to sell the seeds but that's not happening, nobody wants to buy my seeds. I'll need to grow them probably, which will hinder my ability to produce seeds (since I only have one gardening spot).
Blood Peppers sell at 340k in my server, so that's a 1 ~ 1.5mil profit every 12~14 days. Argh.

So I'll first need a batch of glazenut + chives, and then plant as many blood peppers as I get from those. 7 days for the glazenuts, plus more 7 days for the peppers to grow.
As I only have one plot, I can't grow them simultaneously, and that sucks a lot.

Ah whole process got you sorry, I'm a one man FC so keep forgetting whole process. At least you have the FC that supports you, many don't give you access unless your part of founders. Kind of why I choose not to join FC's, and just rent out certain aspects on my FC like airships and gardens.

Actually my whole FC abandoned the game and I'm the only one left, so after 30 days I got the owner badge and now I'm a one-man FC as well... lolz
