The "Meteor mark": anyone else come upon this issue?

So my fiancee and I had purchased the collector's edition of 1.0 way back in the day (also played in beta), but we had stopped playing before ARR came around. We later returned to give the game another shot.

We had heard about the meteor marks (the tattoos) and we had thought those were given to accounts that had remained active before the start of ARR.

Recently, we learned that this mark is on any character created PRIOR to ARR, and both she and I had characters on a Japanese server that have these tattoos.

Had we known the truth, we would've gladly paid to transfer these characters to a NA server, but we didn't and we rolled and leveled fresh characters instead.

Has anyone else had this problem and have they tried speaking to a GM about transferring the meteor mark and deleting the old character that had it?

There's SOOO much progress on this character that I couldn't fathom restarting him now, even to get the meteor mark which he WOULD have had had we known how to get it.

Unfortunately, the legacy tattoo is linked to the character that has it. There is no way a GM can transfer the mark for you. You will either have to use the old legacy character or hope SE adds a similar tattoo to the game or cash shop.

I don't think you can get the tattoo transferred unfortunately.

It is like this due to lore because basically if your character was in 1.0 it was marked by the calamity. So any characters made in 2.0+ technically didn't go through the calamity and therefore no tattoo.

It would be nice I guess if you had a legacy status account and at least one character with the tattoo that your other newer made characters could also have the tattoo...I mean you could try requesting that SE do that I guess, but besides that like I said above I think it is due to lore so they may not want to do that.

In the end...you barely ever see that tattoo. My main has it, but I rarely ever see it due to gear covering it. So I would suggest just not worrying about it since it isn't something you'll see much even if you had it.

You do realize that they emailed all the email addresses of accounts that ever had an active V1.0 characters to move them right? And by active, I mean you minimally got past the opening cutscene and did anything.

Like my main character has the mark, but not the chocobo, because the chocobo wasn't available when I last logged into it.

What wasn't moved, retainers. Not that I think mine had anything of value on it.

I doubt SE could do anything at this point because while the tattoo is simply a cosmetic flag, it's covered up by nearly all gear that isn't a bathing suit, thus there is likely an entire multi texture layer reserved for just the tattoo. If SE ever gives options for body-paint/tattoos, you might see the tattoo disappear if something replaces it.

Actually, 1.0 retainers were in fact moved with your 1.0 character into ARR, in fact, after transferring their 1.0 character into ARR, a 1.0 player could immediately rehire their 1.0 retainer from the Retainer Vocate as soon as they started ARR (and didn't have to play through the story to get Minfilia to unlock them) - you had to create a new appearance for them though. But you could keep their old name and they had everything you stored on them intact.

Curiously a 1.0 retainer also has the Legacy mark (depending on if you equip gear on them that keeps their upper back bare, the default Retainer outfit hides it), which proves even more a 1.0 player retained their.. um.. retainers.

I'm pretty sure mine kept her appearance, at least she looks identical in the old photos to how she is now. I don't think I intentionally did that, but maybe I did, it was so long ago now. I remember the same name coming up though and remember thinking that was cool.

Wha....!? I NEVER KNEW THIS. I guess I never had the retainer in an outfit that shows it off, at the same time never flicked the camera round behind her. She's also not the retainer I "place" outside the house. Wow how exciting, thanks for this!

Edit: Disappointingly mine does not have the tattoo I don't know if she lost it on my recent server transfer to Omega or if it was never there To the best of my knowledge she's never been retainer fantasia'd.

I also played during 1.0 but during beta I fantased

Adding to the above, the tattoo is not affected by the Fantasia and didn't come out until 2.0 itself (you couldn't Fantasia in any of the betas, only delete/create a new character and maybe you did that?). Most 1.0 players also didn't have to use a Fantasia to change their appearance, first time you logged in you had the option. Although I say most, it didn't work for everyone so they later sent a Fantasia to all 1.0 characters for free to fix those that didn't.

Exact same thing happened to my brother. GM said too bad. Also I'm pretty sure when ARR first released you could not transfer from a legacy server to a normal server anyway.

While I don't remember 100%, I think it was the exact opposite. Legacy servers were full and they would have wanted to spread out servers as much as possible. If anything they encouraged legacy players to move to newer servers and didn't allow new players to make characters on legacy servers.

Yeah I don't think you can have the tattoo transferred but as others said, you really don't see it because all armor covers it. Though I thought having the legacy tattoo and legacy chocobo was only for people who had a legacy account and that was only people who payed for 3 months within a designated time in the last year before the game was shut down. Meaning you wouldnt have been able to start the game and quit until ARR launches and have legacy stuff. But from what you guys are saying, it's not linked to a legacy account?
Can anyone confirm having the tattoo and/or the legacy chocobo and either not have a legacy account or had quit the game early until ARR launched?
