moving to shirogane question

Hello

I currently have a small house in the Goblet and I intend to buy a medium one when shirogane housing becomes available

do I have to relinquish the small plot I already have before I can buy medium ?

I heard that it was possible to transfer your house to shirogane but I am not sure if it works when sizes are different

They've said that when Shirogane is released there will be a moving system for Free Companies, but they haven't given any specifics on how it will work.

They haven't confirmed either whether it's only for free companies, or if personal houses can use it too.

Sorry, keep checking, right now we just don't know any details. They're sure to post on the lodestone/launcher when they do have more for us though.

If you got the money - just buy the 2nd one. Most are planning on just buying the plots as soon as they are available because timing to buy a new plot with be critical - they will be gone fast. Also I have heard many people are not going to move but just own more then 1 house. Best is to create an alt with a FC buy the house the 2nd house with it - FC's have great storage space

as i contently hear people say "i'm just going to own a second home" part of me wonders if the reason why shirogane is taking so long to come out is because they are working on tweaking the housing system that would throw a wrench in these plans.

I'd be happy with a wrench being tossed into a second house idea..Heck my husband and I plan to give up the small house we own once we finally get a med or large for the fc. =/ I see no purpose in being greedy.

Might as well sell your plot now (If its a private estate only) and get some Gil for it, as when you go to purchase a new plot once the move feature has been added (Companies only for the moment) you must pay for the new plot just the same as if you went to a placard right now to buy a plot. You will not be refunded for your current plot unless, you wait 45 days without entering it and then get refunded 80% of the purchased price, or on-sell it to another player.

Correct but when discussing the moving feature they only mentioned bennefits/reason for a moving feature as not dismantling workshops and repurchasing private chambers all of which are specific FC features not found in private housing.

As unlikely as it is that only FCs would have access to the move function people are playing it safe by assuming based on what we have been told that FC move feature is confirmed and personal housing is yet to be confirmed. It doesn't mean they explicitly stated only fcs can move but until they confirm it applies to all housing then assuming you will be able to move personal housing is a tad risky imo.

Right because beforehand they explained that the feature would move the house and place the furnishings in a storage bin. That completely covered residential housing, so the only questions that would be left would be for fc houses which they then covered. There's no way they would waste the manpower on a fc only feature

I don't disagree I think that it'll be available for all, but I was there when they discussed the move feature, nothing they said explicitly confirmed it would be available to all housing, the same as nothing explicitly said it was fc only, until they outline the specifics of the moving feature imo it's safer to assume there's a chance you may have to relinquish first rather than banking on a moving feature we have very few details on :/

This was also the same time they stated that they were monitoring housing and deciding wether to allow fcs and personals to buy at the same time or to stagger the release, but everyone seems to deny that it's even remotely possible, despite it being the last official word we heard on the subject.
