Hey all.
As a newly returned player i sometime struggel to find up to date information about how stuff work. I now know the basics of PotD and i have cleared floor 60 i belive as well as having 33/30 eatherpool gear. Should i pick the polearm for my 56 DRG, or should i save/use the eatherpool for something else? Or should i get my lance and start working on my next weapon? The weapon looks pretty good, but will it soon be replaced going into Stormblood? I also was told not to use my poetics for lvl 50 gear, since you now can get good 60 gear from them? Is this correct? Any advice is much appriciated.

I guess it depends on where you are in the story. Getting the padjil then upgrading it to the kinna would be helpful post idllyshire. If you haven't town to 60 or to idllyshire spend some poetics on ironworks gear. Poetics are so plentiful anymore you don't have to grind for three different scripts (lore and shire as well as poetics) As a fresh level 50 poetics will carry you through quite a few levels.

Edit: Your gear at 56 is probably better than ironworks.

It is correct that you can now use poetics to purchase some of the higher ilvl gear from 3.x, which youll be able to equip at 60. As for turning your aetherpool into a weapon... it depends. The 30/30 weapon(padjali) is only ilvl 235. Unless youre going to do the extra 60/60 for the kinna weapon(ilvl 255) youll be pretty weakly armed by the time you hit the end of the 3.x/beginning of the 4.0 content. If youve got the poetics for a shire weapon(ilvl 260), it might be a good alternative. As for how quickly youll upgrade, the first dungeon(lvl 61) from SB drops 260 gear(including weapons). Youll probly have a quested weapon better then the kinna by 63 or 64 at the latest. I went into the expansion with a fully upgraded anima relic(ilvl 275 - perfect stats) and it was replaced by 65 or 66. Something weaker without the stats i needed wouldnt have lasted nearly that long.

It's around 800 to 900 Poetic tomestones you need to spend to get an upgraded Shire weapon (lvl 60, i270), a weapon that is far stronger than Kinna's lvl 60 i255. So I'm going to say: keep your aether stat and never get the weapon unless you want it for glamour.
