    On the one hand, creating a new gatherer with brand new mats is a bad idea because these mats need to be incorporated into existing recipes without screwing the crafters.

    On the other hand, letting the new gatherer gather monster drops would kill a (good? decent? ok?) source of gil for combat class.

    That's actually a pretty cool idea. Could call it a Hunter or something along those lines.

    I could dig a Bug-Catching Class for 5.0. It would be very enjoyable to see WoL running around with a net.

    It would be better to create a new DoL class that works with more than just what the game already has to offer.
    Make something like an Extractor which gathers a new kind of item like Aetherial Essences from aether-rich areas used in the creation of a new DoW/DoM class' main hand weapon (Blue Mage?), as well as other, miscellaneous crafted items.

    First, doesn't the retainer kind of fill this spot? Gathering monster items so you don't have to?

    There was a scrapped Shepherd class in 1.0 that would have been based in Falcon's Nest. But they made no attempt to revive it in Heavensward. Personally, I think they should add ranches to residential districts to give players new things to do, at least.

    I would love to have a fourth gathering class. Back in 1.0, the shepherd was planned as a Disciple of the Land that would gather items like wool from live animals (and maybe monsters!) such as sheep. These days a ninja can just Mug things to death, though. What isn't covered by killing monsters and the Disciple of the Land classes we currently have?

    I have considered that a new Gathering class could be an Archaeologist. It would go around the world and identify ancient objects like Allagan relics, graves, murals etc. The loot would be things like potions, vials, tomestones, manuals etc that are not required to rework previous crafting recipes (could be stuff you get in the Aquapolis/Canals and PotD as well).

    Another bonus by having an Archaeologist class is it would give a special History Log that fills up over time and players can learn about the history of Eorzea/Hydaelyn.
