Gathering - How much GP is enough

So I've could swear I've seen people recommend anywhere from 600 to 750 GP, but my question is, how much do I need and what does each amount give me?

In my honest opinion, No. I have 691 GP and I am fine, the reason people suggest getting over 700 GP is to use sharp vision. Like I said, I don't need it and never struggled without it. It didn't take me too much time to gather over 2000 yellow scripts in a few days playing casually without 700 GP.
