PGL still tanks? X-Class Combos?

I'm not too sure if it's been cleared up yet, but are PGL still considered tanks? They have a load of Evasion abilities, but only a single Enmity ability (Taunt) at level 42. Are they supposed to grab Flash and Provoke to be able to tank at all?

The reason I ask is because I'd like to be able to play a DD first to get into the groove of how things are done in this game first. I'd have liked it to be a PGL but if it's a throw-down between LNC, ARC, and THM, I'll go with LNC.

Another thing I'm not too sure about: Are X-Class Combos even possible? The other day I tried to perform the Skull Sunder (+Enmity Bonus) combo in a PT but it wasn't working. I'm not so sure if it was just me being slightly to the side of the crabs which would mean it automatically fails or if it's simply not possible to perform.
