I don't care if you jump potion, POTD spam, FATE spam, etc. If you're willing to listen and try your best to improve, I got a lot of patience for you. I will do my best to be that encouraging voice (to help you overcome nerves with certain things), that supportive voice, that guiding voice. I'm not perfect myself, but I'll do my best to mentor people if they're willing to accept support.

I mean heck my mentor role has been known to extend to "that shoulder to cry on if you're feeling horrible because of a bad experience". I'm actually doing that right now with someone who has had a multitude of bad experiences. Finding out what happened, helping give them the tools to handle it better, and providing a reassuring voice.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Reminds me of posts on an older game which decided to do something similar. In all honesty there are some good points and bad points to the boosts. There will always be bad players who play games in key roles ie healer / tank. It's the way of life we just have to accept it happens and move on. I personally joined just recently and joined a server which gave me a 300% bonus but it lasted only 2 days. So I went and bought the job boost for scholar because I played a healer in almost every other mmo thus far. If the 300% bonus had not left I honestly probably would not have bought the boost. I had time set aside to go through the leveling process but then the 300% was removed shortly after I joined.

I partially agree. I mean the boost was intended for folks to go "Hey I wanna join my friend at current content!" I think that if you boost and you are 100% new it should make you go through a tutorial level. I mean WoW's current expansion Legion, forces all newly boosted characters through a tutorial. When I say newly boosted I mean straight from level 1.

WoW's "tutorial" consists of learning 3 or 4 basic skills for DPS purposes only. You do not learn any skills useful for tanking or healing. After that, all of the skills are dumped onto your skill bar. WoW also doesn't prepare for dungeon instances, since you can level from 1 to 110 without ever entering a dungeon instance. And, you want to play another class? Level an Alt.

At least FFXIV has a Dungeon Basics training class you can take for DPS/heals/tank.

    Let it die already.

3- its an RPG, they should take the time and appreciate the game as we did, these people take it all for granted.
They can't experience the game as we did, very few people will do Coil,Alex,ARR/HW primals synced, many people wont bother with the crystal tower raids or Void Ark series.
So what challenge does that leave new people? Sit around and hope someone will decide to join them for a synced challenge on a non important fight with irrelevant rewards. Do you really think people will not get bored with that?
Like someone posted above time you get rewarded any gear you have already surpassed it.

Plenty of new people left pre SB due to content being steamrolled, lack of challenge and pure boredom. Would be great if jump potions weren't needed but that would take a full revamp of all content 1-60.

I don't think this is a good idea. This would be bad for the game. Coming is as a new player and not being able to play current content with your friends for over a month (sometimes longer...) is a terrible plan for an ongoing business. No new subs = dead game = no game for you either.

1- its killing the endgame and Duty Finder groups
I don't see this at all.
I see exactly the same number of bad players and good players as there's always been.

I do see, however, that more people are blaming bad playing on 'being a fresh noob' instead of trying to help them out and improve the community.

2- Most noobs who buy it, dont stay for long, easy get easy go. they get to 70 in less than 5 days, get bored and stop subbing.
    I don't see this either.
Most people who ramp up quickly enjoy playing with their friends in current content. The faster they get doing this, the faster they'll be hooked and the more likely they'll be to stick around.
Without a fast way to get there... there's no motivation to even start the grind to "one-day-some-day" play with friends in current content. You'll see a lot less new players. And, eventually, a dead game. History shows this with every other MMO that's ever existed.

3- its an RPG, they should take the time and appreciate the game as we did, these people take it all for granted.
    They're trying to.
How did we all play? Didn't we all play current content with our friends? Why can't they do the same?
When were we all forced to play, alone, through old content no one else was doing, for months-on-end, before ever being able to play with our friends in current content?
I don't ever remember having to do that.

I think you're coming at this from a very wrong (and selfish) angle.

4- stop being greedy this is not WOW, alot of us left WOW because of this level boost back in Cataclysm
A lot more would never join if there was no fast way to start playing with your friends in current content.
No one joining = dead game = everyone leaves.

I'm not sure why they didn't tie the potion jump to at least finishing Hall of the Novice.

One good way to balance out the "players not knowing what they're doing" is to let them pot jump to 60 but give them bonus XP for doing dungeons and such at the original level.

Yeah, they should level in mindless AOE fate train parties like the rest of us!

Some of the worst people I've seen in the game have thousands of hours logged. The time it takes to get to level cap is almost irrelevant. And while I don't like the idea of level boosts, most of the people I've seen using them are clearly on alt characters.
