I don't know about you guys, but if I'm kinda into a woman, I generally have to spend time with her. You know, call her now and again. Respond to her texts. Take her out for dinner. Talk, and stuff.
Turns out I don't know crap about women, cause Aldis' game plan is to say nothing to this woman Mylla for months or years on end, and every time he does it, she becomes more and more obsessed with him.
If I don't respond to my girlfriend's text for a day, I'm in trouble and we fight about it. And yet...
Aldis leaves Ul'dah without a word to her to settle matters with *their* mutual friend/love interest Leavold, but doesn't bother explaining to her the circumstances. This doesn't upset her, but rather makes her want to jump in bed with him.
Aldis returns to Ul'dah still dealing with Leavold fallout, but rather than finally explain what's happening to Mylla, he decides to cut a random scrub adventurer (you) in on the action. This doesn't upset her, but rather makes her want to jump in bed with him.
Leavold's finished; but Aldis doesn't try to clear his name in Ul'dah or work something out with Mylla or talk about their feelings or say anything at all; rather he just decides to leave and wander the realm. This doesn't upset her, but rather makes her want to jump in bed with him.
Aldis returns to Ul'dah in Stormblood to fight you in disguise. He never spoke with Mylla once during his travels, and never sent letters or messages. This doesn't upset her, but does make her wonder if his "son" is truly his biological son, because she's super jelly of whatever lucky woman he knocked up, if it is.
Aldis is, contrary to all reason, pardoned of bribery and allowed to fight in the Coliseum. He can finally rejoin his old life as a gladiator, and be with Mylla. But he doesn't want that, instead deciding to wander aimlessly around the world again, promising to visit Ul'dah again from time to time whenever he sees Mylla's hotline bling, because she's a "filly back home who whinnies incessantly after me". [This is actually what he says in the quest.] This doesn't upset her, but rather makes her want to jump in bed with him
You know what? I take it all back. I take back every piece of criticism I ever said about the guy. Aldis, I present you with the "Totally and Completely Understands Women" Trophy. You've earned it, my friend. You've earned it.
Also, for reals? Mylla's job is to manage and fight as a gladiator day in, day out, and Aldis's "wilderness wanderings" still keep him in top-tier tournament-ready shape? He's been out of the game for years, but he still defeats her with a little flick of his shield wrist?
Mylla's a freaking joke. if I were a Highlander, a gladiator, or a woman, I'd be insulted. Has whoever wrote this quest ever met an actual woman?
