[Request] Please make event gear harder to get outside of in-game events.

Well, not a really valid example since the event is not over yet...but Garo gears can be obtained outside of PvP for a hefty MGP price and cannot be dyed and has a silly prefix in front of it ("Tarnished"). Since they are placed in Gold Saucer, I imagine they won't add them on Mogstation. This I think fits your requirement.

After the "exclusive" FanFest 2014-only Mog Attire was released on the MogStation, I realized that nothing is sacred.

I don't really love the practice of throwing things on the MogStation, but if it's going to make SE money, you can bet your bottom dollar they are going to do it.

Moreover, generally speaking, these items were "exclusive" for a while. We usually don't see them in the MogStation until about a year or so later.

It's a touchy subject, but I would be extremely surprised if SE decided to stop this practice.

...and heck, I guess it means I can get my Yuna gear in like...two years or something.

Part of the reason I created the topic was to see how people would react; because every time someone requests that something be added to the MogStation there are cries of derision, anger and agitated objections from many corners of the forum. Based on the vehemence of people's reactions to things being added to the MogStation, I thought that there might be support for extending the amount of time that in-game event items remain exclusive to in-game events.

Don't get me wrong, I really would like to see that extension myself because I do believe that the reward is for participating in the event, not reaching into your wallet. Such items should be exclusively ingame for another year - in my opinion. I think it enhances their value as rewards for taking part in the events.

However I also was interested to see whether people were truly as upset about things being added to the Mogstation as you might expect from their reactions at other times. So far, it's looking like people are far more accepting of the MogStation/Cash shop than their reactions would lead you to believe, which is interesting.

I've always said that the Cash Shop isn't a problem, a long as it's optional items that don't impact gameplay or take away from in-game events. Although I would like the in-game exclusivity of such things extended by a year, the overall idea of making them available in the cash shop isn't a problem for me.

I'm not sure what the problem is. The events never seemed like they needed more participation. Nor do they even need it. Since they seem to be solo stuff for the most part. So what's the point? It would almost seem you want the rewards to show how special you are for getting it, but you said you'd be fine with them as rewards in later years, or in the shop after 2 years (I mean, it's already one year). Making them limited to in-game only also won't increase subs, since most people don't actively follow the events once they've quit (I certainly didn't). I'm also willing to bet that they make a lot more from selling them on the Mog Station than they would from any possible subs. I mean, have you not seen all the people black ranger posing since that came out? Seems like it's making a problem where there isn't one. I've never liked one-time event rewards to begin with. I like them even less on a games with a focus on dressing up your characters.

Heck, I think one year is too long. I re-subbed like a week after the 2017 Ladies Day, and man a year is so long to wait for that cute outfit.

They aren't the same items. The PVP Garo gear is dyeable, the versions available for MGP are not dyeable.

And regardless if someone gets something that was exclusive to you or other players at the time. No one can take that away, you got to experience the full experience not just the carrot. That is sacred.

What would feel more rewarding for longer?

Making a million dollars creating something you put your heart and soul in or earned.

Well yea, not only they are more expensive, but they are also crappier. This encourages players to participate in the time frame of the event, because outside of that you get an inferior version of the items. There's that exclusivity I guess.

They seem to have problem just to bring stuff like the Dragon Quest stuff hasn't gone in there even though its been years since that event. The Garo and Yokai even items are even far less likely to ever show up in the mogstation because those aren't SE's IPs.

Events aren't about rewarding you for staying subscribed, they're an extra incentive to stay subscribed. If you think the value of an event-exclusive item is justified by staying subscribed when you might otherwise not, by all means justify putting money into the game however you want. However, you can't possibly give me a reasonable explanation as to how someone else being able to spend money on the game to obtain a single item that you got effectively for free with generally little effort (that has no game play advantage) is anything other than good for the game and its continued success.

Furthermore, what would you tell any new players that would really like X event-exclusive item? Too bad?

That might be due to licensing restrictions.

I literally stopped bothering with holidays after year 1 because its a bunch of text wall cut-scenes of nearly identical events with no real world ambiance going on other than a few rushed looking decoration piles in starter cities. Can't we get a special holiday trial, or dungeon remap ,maybe more themed area's changes going on?
