Do you wonder what your was doing after you /shutdown?

the following is trash talk: XD

It brought my attention that one day I found a Miqo'te's undi inside my inventory.
So, I started to question where did my galka went after I /shutdown last night.
I think it went caught some tarus for snack and chasing after some kitties and pull their tails!!

    hmm...
ok it's actually not why I started this thread...
after you did /shutdown, your char is actually hanging there and do nothing, until server time out and kick you out...
    /fix [Can I have it?]

It's true, I've had to oust people from party simply because they went to bed and the shutdown command left their character in game. :/

takes 30seconds-1minute in most cases. Its kind of common in MMOs though. XI was the same way, WoW too if I recall correctly, SWTOR does the same thing.

Its done as a low priority on the server since its really the last thing the player does. Also I am sure it is used to combat cheating methods off logging out before death to avoid death (since your character is still technically logged in the game they still can receive damage and can be interacted with; hence the still in the party and able to boot them). Personally I don't find anything wrong here.

Imo the main reason for such features is to make the game look more "alive". To prevent cheating in combat it would only need to be applied if you actually are in combat. Logging out also should have a pretty high priority as a removed player takes no more bandwidth, memory, etc. . I know cases where people were standing around for hours even though they logged.

yeah the way this game handles logout is pretty much how most MMORPGs do it..... besides you found a pair of Miqo'te undies in your bag?...... Whats the problem? You had a good time last night it seems ;p

I also think its to prevent cheating of instant /log, and also because it is low priority like said.

That is why a lot of a 10-30 second timer till you log out. Nothing is happening in that time its just a delay. XIV is fortunate enough to let you go when you want to go and doesn't need a timer, but still has the behind the scene limitations.
