    World-Wide Messages For Certain Fates?

You know, special fates like Behemoth, Odin, and Ixion only show up once every few days. It's kind of hard to keep track of when they are up or not since you have to rely on other people calling them out when they're up, you also have to worry about people running the fate as soon as it spawns as well since people will camp it, especially in the case of Ixion as of right now. I say maybe for those special fates, why not have the server issue out a message saying that those fates are up at the moment? I can't tell you how many times me or my friends have wanted to do either Odin or Behemoth but have missed them when they were up because no one mentioned it to us.

And don't even get me started on Ixion's current state. Jeez.

That basically defeats most of the purpose of those fates being rare in the first place. You might as well make them spawn every hour and be normal zone boss fates. The state of Ixion right now is similar to how Odin was back in 2.0 so you deal with the bad to keep it enjoyable and an event everyone tries to get to since it's so rare. It will never be prefect but making a server wide announcement would make them a whole lot less special. Without open world NMs people need something special to pop up in zones every so often as a reason to revisit those zones once you out level it.

That sounds like a good way to crash the zones/instances/servers, getting even more people to all teleport at once.

No number of instances would save us if this happened.

Join a couple of hunt LSs and you should be good, or ask FC members to post up hunts/FATEs in FC chat, some FC's are okay with that.

Eh, in execution it works, I'm certain his idea comes from Guild Wars 2, which is where FATEs are based on if I'm not mistaken and sadly after playing that game for a bit it becomes extremely noticeable how watered down the mechanic is in FF14. FF14's version of these random events that take place hold no weight in the world, FATEs are a perfect opportunity to create this dynamic open world but the variety in which these events have impact is minimal at best. Sure certain ARR areas have some areas closed off or certain items not available for purchase under certain conditions but sadly the main gimmick behind FFXIV's FATEs can be condensed to the following.

    1) series of FATEs with a big reward

2)Small handful of "World Bosses" that appear every few days

3)Boss FATEs, some of which have rewards.

Now compared to what I experienced in Guild Wars II.

1)Encounters which can impact ownership of certain territory even making teleporting to X location unavaiable

2)Encounters which reward you with loot or the ability to gather a node that appears after the encounter

3)Boss encounters that feel like they actually have impact since the servers themselves are naturally created to limit the opportunity of zerging said encounter

Overall it makes these encounter more fun to do since it's not just about XP or getting a glamour item, but you actually have an influence over what happens in the area.

XIV could easily do this, making workshops for crafters that allow them to craft specific pieces of gear but they are locked behind FATEs which you have to work together with others in order to unlock. Then as time progresses the enemy keeps attacking X area let's say every half hour to an hour until they take it back.

Then you could have FATEs where the idea is a boss or horde of creatures is either protecting a gathering node or causing X resource to dwindle because of them overtaking the habtitat. So upon beating them a node becomes available for all those who helped with the encounter. With the changes to GP being able to restore to full even when you are not on said job this would be easy to implement.

Overall I think when SE works on 5.0, they should look at each map in 2 parts. The MSQ part that they want to remain stagnant so players can progress through the story without FATEs getting in their way, and a part of each zone that is more dynamic and it's accessibility is based on player's influence with FATEs.

The Framework is there, they just gotta make the time to do more with it, ti's honestly sad that for the most part both FATEs and Leves are just degraded to xp devices when their concepts could be used for so much more. Like why not a 10 leve cost DOL encounter in which it allows you to gather up certain items in excess like an unspoiled node without waiting? How broken would that be honestly? 10 leves=3 days I think so even if you have 99 or is it 100, either way you get 9-10 runs in, but then you have to wait a whole month for it to recharge or 3 days to do it again. It would give players more options instead of said content being useless once you have your jobs/classes leveled.

I think it would be neat tho if certain zone NPCs or mobs would react ahead of time instead of just a sudden weather change. Like seeing a flock of untargetable mobs fleeing the instance, or an NPC complaining how their knees tend to ache before Odin weather.

I think the Fox FATE chain is on the right track for this.
