    A very old suggestion I had was a "Pass" option.

    If you are for any reason unable to immediately join a duty, the Pass option switches you with the next player in queue who is also eligible for what you joined. Passes count towards your daily limit of Declines.

    So if you are queuing for something and the next 12 players didn't queue for it, only the 13th player in queue had queued for the same content you did, then using Pass will put you back to 13th place.

    It does mean that sometimes the number in queue isn't a good judgement, so there are a lot of complications.
