    Fating Alone

Does anyone else find that doing fates alone is trickier than it should be?

As a dps in ruby sea especially it takes a while flying from fate to fate only to find that either the fate is a boss which can't be solo'd or a mob-fate for which self-healing skills and chocobo are completely necessary.

The changes to soften fates in areas with fewer people have been great, I just wonder how everyone else sees it - does anyone tech up their chocobo for tanking or have any thoughts or tips?

You can tell by looking at the map wether a FATE is boss or mob fate - boss fates center symbol is an angry looking face (and duration can go up to 30 mins where regular fates go to 12 tops), while regular mob fates have a crossed axe/sword.

The link above has a list of fate icons you can refer to, as there are more fate types than boss and mob slay.

Usually to solo slay fates chocobo is enough, I find that healer type chocobo is kinda more useful, so maybe get that to 10 and then use points on tank abilities when you get them. Watch your position so you don't pull more mobs than you can handle and you should be gtg.

I did a few fates but your right its pretty much do with your chocobo and kinda go in and out of the fate circle so you want die if you argo like 5 at a time. As many people as I see askin for open world stuff , I really dont think people care to much about it , and also fates kinda give horrible exp

I actually leveled my chicken as a healer... if you intend playing as a healer you might level it as a tank instead... I usually give mine a mimmet gourd right before engaging the enemy to boost my birds healing.... the hard part is when you get synced down and gotta deal with fate monsters and native monsters of a slightly higher level...

Also... if you DO die alone in a fate you can wait til the fate ends and get partial credit even if the fate fails
