    I couldn't agree I don't see how a stats stacking system like materia covers what the merit/talent system did.

    It doesn't really...after all the complaints about drop/quest/raid gear being "worthless with materia around" you'd want a system like XI Merits or JSE/AF from XI (that enhanced abilities or gave access to new ones/traits etc, something materia wouldn't do.)

    For example Empyrean armor from XI would easily counter balance Materia in a heart beat.
