Mostly all MMOs have this feature at end, have you guys considered it?

Merits systems are good for the end, but they need to add like 25 more levels before they get to the end. Honestly this is still mid game atm.
Really? Like what? Because the modern MMOs that I've played that require subscription fees do not have this at all, so saying "mostly all MMOs" have this feature is either a niche market of MMOs that I've never played (maybe overseas EU/Asia MMOs), or just you being an XI purist desperately clinging on to some ridiculous notion of excessive grinding in MMOs being rewarding or some misplaced sense of accomplishment from getting one. I am more inclined to believe the latter.
Secondly, merits just adds more pathetic grinding to the game. XIV doesn't need more grinding because it already has more than the average modern MMO. We need content. More than five very short and brief grand company quests each patch.
Content =/= Grinding.
Third, merits were nothing more than a horrible implementation of 'talent trees' that XI threw in for a gross and monotonous time sink. Not to mention it had little to no customization because you were 'required' to have certain merits to do anything.
If anything, I'd much prefer to see a system developed around quests (at ALL levels) that allows your character to modify a new system that works sort of like talents and/or merits. I would much rather go out and actually accomplish something like say, killing all the primals, awarding one talent specialization and/or re-specialization point. Not only does this type of task actually feel like you accomplished something, but it encourages linkshells to help newer players while utilizing old content instead of throwing it away when the next patch arrives.
Big no to merits.

This. There is enough grinding to do with all the classes to level up already. I quit FFXI because it was way too much grind, don't make FFXIV a grind-festival.Really? Like what? LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
Even though this may be true, anyone that was level 75 can say that all the end game content was super fun.
Sky
Sea
Dynamis
Nyzul
Campaign
Besieged
And so much more
1) merits are not in most mmos, in fact, they are in 1 i can think of, just 1
2)while the idea of merits is great in order to keep content relevant and not raise a level cap, we need levl cap raises first, its a better idea for when a level cap raise is no longer a viable idea for the game because its too high already(good idea when your 99 or planning no further raises)
3) the main reason for a merit raise at that point is to be able to make stronger content that requires you to have merited without said cap raises, without having to overthrow the balance of the game(merits can make gradual increases in strength whereas a cap raise would be bigger leaps as can be seen in other games)
so yeah, too early to even consider merits

Merit systems are in WOW, RIFT, MOST asian MMOs, FF11, ALLODs online etc all most every mmo has them in some form or another period.1) merits are not in most mmos, in fact, they are in 1 i can think of, just 1

when the hell did wow get a merit system?
im aware rift and 11 have it
but "all other asian mmo" isnt being very specific
but the point still stands, its WAY too early in the game for a merit system, thats meant for when you dont want to raise the level cap, not just to throw in for the sake of having it
