No more Road to 60 Buff? (Zalera)

    Hey guys,

I just logged in after maint to realise that I no longer have the road to 60 buff. Is this supposed to be the case? Zalera is still a low population server with a bunch of new players corralled onto there so they wouldn't just take the buff away as soon as it hit whatever threshold they had in mind right?

Because still being new to the game and leveling different classes having to take atleast twice as long to level would kill my enjoyment for this game.

I am not sure why they would offer xp bonuses to lure players to low pop servers then remove them soon after. If this is the case they really need to revisit and leave the buff up for a certain amount of time after to allow all those new people who flocked over to catch up even a little bit.

Zalera is no longer a preferred world, and so no longer give a bonus for new characters.

Yea that's BS, you can't offer a bonus to lure people to a low pop server then remove it immediately after it reaches a threshold of you no longer caring about the population. They lock off character creation on servers anyway so there is no need to remove the buff immediately. An announced grace period would have worked better. Everyone would know to level by that certain date and the new players would have time to put their affairs in order.

This is just really insensitive to the new players they got for those servers.

Zalera had been a preferred server for nearly a month - plenty of time to create a character and take advantage of the bonus.
That the bonuses would eventually disappear as the preferred servers filled up was extremely obvious. The only question was when, which is why the smart thing to do was to start taking advantage of it as quickly as possible before it ended.

The purpose of the bonus was to make people move from high-population servers to low-population servers. That apparently worked fine, and now they don't want any more people to move to Zalera (or any of the other servers no longer considered preferred.)
An announced grace period would not have worked fine - it would just have induced a rush of players doing last-minute transfers which they didn't want.

Nope you're wrong. They can prevent server transfers to certain worlds as that is already in place preventing moves from low pop to overcrowded. They are preventing the creation of chars on high pop/standard servers which is why I must was forced to choose between one of those preferred worlds when I started.

Choosing to give your customers less information is never the answer. It does not matter in the slightest how long Zalera had this preferred status. Majority of these players are New.

They could have announced a date at the end of the month and delisted the servers as preferred immediately.

You apologists are on every game making excuses for company who put little to no effort in how they deal with people who keep their servers running and their stomachs fed.

It took me all of two mins to find an easy work around.

Service and transparency should always be the hallmarks of these companies. Subterfuge and skulduggery should never be resorted.

It says you are no longer able to "obtain" the bonus. It doesn't say "retain"

The bonus should be a permanent flag on characters who were created on a server offering a buff.

I created a new character just last night on a server and spent all day on it only to wake up and see the server I chose no longer gets the buff.

How is this fair? It would still be faster to create another new character than to keep playing the one I have just spent time on. But that means I wasted all day on a character for no reason.

Have to agree with the OP here.
I came back to this game because I noticed I was going to be able to catch up quick on a Pref. server, and level up jobs a bit faster than normal.
I had friends that originally were already playing the game in SB content, and were willing to re-roll to a preferred server as a group to level quick and enjoy the game together at a similar pace.
However some of them in the last week we've been playing have jobs and other RL obligations and couldn't play immediately each night.

A lot of us are mostly discouraged that we couldn't even get the slightest of warnings.

Why couldn't there just be an announcement for your community?

"Double XP will be removed this Tuesday from the following servers."
"Double XP will be continued on the preferred servers listed."

    Seems easy enough...

Anyways, thanks for discouraging the guys who wanted to catch up and play on the same page as the others in our FC...
    Great surprise, 10/10

Yea it definitely feels like the removal of the preferred status was a bit too sudden. Some amount of forewarning would have been nice, we went to Zalera because of the preferred status and if we had known the buff would have been removed today it's possible we would have chosen a different server.

Obviously if the realm population is a problem you can always lock character creation and transfers for a week (or some other period of time) until the preferred status is removed. This was just very immediate.

The only reason i came back was because of the Road To 60 buff. I felt like i could experience all the jobs at a decent rate. Really sad to see it go. I guess i will come back when they have another event like it.

It really feels like people put 0 effort into decisions that affect customer experience. The best games make sure their customers have the best experience possible and part of that is through communication. It would have taken nothing off of them to communicate this in a clear fashion but they chose not to.

It really speaks volumes about what they really think about paying customers.
