Lack of FF8

FF8 actually has some of the most references of any of the games as shown by other posters here. Yes it hasn't had entire dungeons or raids dedicated to it yet, but overall you can see it heavily influenced the aesthetic behind Garlemald. Even more than FF6 which is arguably where the rest of the concept is poached from.

If they ever did something like the gardens, taking from a previous post's idea, I could see them being incorporated into Nymian lore somehow. that'd be a hope at least for once not tying things to the Allagans.

Speaking of FF8 and Omega (and someone correct me if I am wrong). We are only fighting programs correct? Data collected from history and fiction, so....instead of just fiends, why not have heros too? As in maybe one boss fight instead of say Ultimecia its Squall and his party blocking the way or if you wanna go further into the squeals of fan service have a party of lead characters much like the Warriors of Darkness. Squall, Terra, Bartz, Cloud and such. Just an idea

That's seemingly a plot point. Cid wonders about why Omega would strictly recreate villains when they all inevitably lost to the heroes, which should automatically disqualify them from being capable of being worthwhile opponents.

Let's just guess from the final dungeon... Krysta, Trauma, Grevier, and Ultimecia, with Ultimecia's final form saved for savage?

Just imagine for a second, the next raid being based in Ultemica Castle. The castle theme song playing in the HUB, and FF8 boss music playing for encounters.
And then Ultimecia. Perhaps herself as a first phase boss, then herself and Griver junctioned. And then her true form for savage.

I could die.

To be more realistic though, all the bosses probably won't be based in Ultemica Castle. We could probably get Doomtrain..............

honestly I really think 5.0 will have more references to FF8 in Garlemald.

I say that because it's probably very advanced in technology and architecture, so it might feel like FF8's setting.

We had Tonberry King, Siren, and Diablos as dungeon bosses all in a row. (2.0, 2.1, 2.2) I kind of thought that was our FF8 reference for a while. I was a little surprised they didn't continue throughout the 2.x dungeon series, but whatever.
