    actual content

I'm wondering when we are going to get actual content. example: I got star wars the old republic when it came out on the 20th. I've been playing on and off. sometimes for a long time. sometimes for a short time.

I haven't even begin to run out of quests to do. I've heard people saying there is content in the game. like ifrit fight, NMs, moogle fight. Content to me is something with an actual story. as it stands right now I'll be leaving when it's time to pay.

as another user on these forums said right now this game is a fighting/crafting game. I hope SE will put some meat on the bones of this game.

I agree that we need more story based content but I'm sure it'll come.

Two new raids, hamlet defense, job quests, etc are being added in a couple of months. Really, we're experiencing the game being rebuilt and probably won't see a while lot of stuff being added until 2.0.

There is a story in this game, just do the main class missions, there are 100s of sidequests in this game which string little parts of story together, Ifrit and moogle both have a story line also.

If you aren't very high though you won't have experience much of the story, something which should be addressed.

FF11 also suffered from a lack of low level storyline aswell, hopefully they will sort this out by the time 2.0 is launched.

I can understand that content is coming. I just don't see paying for a content lacking game in the meantime. also things like hamlet defense and raids are content but aren't. it's like how dynamis was in XI. it just becomes something you do for something to do. granted that's what all mmos are but some hide that better then others. its like how offline games have some grinding. but after that you get a good chunk of story before you have to grind again.

dont forget that those of us who have done them all already have to wait regardless for new ones, which regardless of what game you play, if it isnt expansion level releases, you will never really get any more

so those comparing other games, they are new, everything is new, when you finish all of that are you also going to say "we have no content please give us more asap cuz xcxx game i havent played has tons for me to do right now"

granted, this game is lacking as is(about 140 quests total right now) but the game also wasnt built on quest leveling to begin with, which is exactly why it is the way it is

    quests do not equal content

you may like a story, and consider the story itself content, but thats probly a minority opionion amongst the worldwide mmo playerbase

content is stuff to do in general

It is the difference between a quest based leveling game and a non-quest based leveling game.

They are two completely different mmo concepts.

This game most likely will never match those other games in terms of # of quest and it is due to the design of XIV. Those wanting a quest based leveling game should not play XIV.

I just think the level of epicness in the story in XIV compared to XI is lacking, in XI the cutscenes were badass, here they arent so much until ,like someone else mentioned , way later.. I mean the quests are fun, yeah but I mean we are getting a brand new story line so I think thats what we are seeing atm, the transition from Tanaka's story to Yoshi's, I think hes mentioned this before actually, how at first thanacred and the lot were main chars but now their role has changed.

I really did enjoy those cutscenes from FFXI. From the rank quests all the way down to each of the Star Onion Brigade and Cat Burglar ones. Walls of text are fine, but a short cutscene alongside that wall of words would be well worthwhile. They don't need to be all that involved, with thirty jugglers and a dozen pie man dancing in the background, just something... more.

Even adding a short cutscene to the various leves would have given them a bigger sense of purpose and make them a little more compelling. Take Save the Lettuce, as an example.

Save the Lettuce, Save the World
A flock of game dodos has begun devouring the crops of La Noscean lettuce farmers living near Camp Bloodshore. Attempts by the local militia to drive off the ravenous cloudkin have resulted in numerous injuries and the untimely death of a one-eyed tracking hound. Travel to the area and eliminate the dodos before they can cause further damage.
This is all we see before the leve starts and we race for the hill. But what if we had seen something like this instead?

After starting the quest, one of the militia steps out of the tent and explains their current predicament. In the background, an old man sobs, a collar tightly clutched in his hand. His personal plea for you to kill those damnable dodos and avenge his dearly departed dog.

Renewed with purpose, you find and dispatch those diabolical dodos. You turn around just in time to see the militia, farmers and old man come up and thank you for your assistance. Two people step forward, one holding a puppy, and they hand it to over to the old man. They tell him, while it has two good eyes, it was born with a bad nose and it can't "smell no good". But the old man doesn't care as he cradles the puppy to his chest, tearfully thanking the people, and the heartwarming scene ends with everyone celebrating.

It's silly stuff like that really stick out in the end. That make many of us that played FFXI so fondly remember certain cutscenes. Could we ever forget Doctor Shantotto? Would she even let us?
