Paladin Gauge is fine, while basic it does its job. Everyone else seems to want it like WAR, which is a problem, because WAR issue is the fact that skills are tied to either the DPS stance or tanks stance. The magic burst phase for PLD, is also a defensive boost. As far as I'm concern the PLD gauge will only be improve as more expansions are added.

PLD doesn't need anymore buffs, they pretty much dominate the party comps right now due to how much damage mitigation they bring for speed runs as well being the 1 tank that pretty much solo most of anything if they were given more buffs...Seeing the other tanks get organised I hoped someone would make a similar thread for PLD, but seeing as no one has I've decided to step up.
This is thread should be used to provided feedback good and bad in an organised and concise way.
I am by no means an expert on PLD, I only started tanking seriously for SB, but I feel that PLDs are in a good spot right now. I'm glad SE decided to go full steam on the idea that PLDs are defenders and have incorporated new abilities to complement this.
However, the whole idea with the new gages and the role actions was to simplify and stream line the abilities each class required, I don't think this has been very successful on PLD.
DRK should have just as much raid utility aside from burst damage and HP shield that if it breaks allows for more burst damage which doesn't fit DRK in FF14 as a whole because DRK was magic tank...
WAR however needs more defense when in tank stance as well some raid utility but enouigh for it to prove that they are they go-to physical tank that SB enemies should fear...

One of the changes I would like to see, is a heal spell sooner then we get Clemency at Lv. 58... with the old cross class system we had cure 1, and I made do with that. But now the only skill that heals at all is Clemency... so doing any lower level dungeons I have no heals and I feel very un-paladin like.
I think our gage could use some tuning as right now it seems to be a largely unnecessary extra resource. I understand that the devs wanted everyone to have one but objectively what does it add to the PLD class?

ppl tend to forgot that dark knight is the only be able to use both stance in the same or if you do consider the stance talking it's the only tank that can bypass the tank stance penalty permanently


1. Darkside isn't a stance
2. Darkside doesn't bypass the tank stance penalty at all since you also get the damage bonus from Darkside when you're out of Grit. So Grit still reduces your damage by the same 20% compared to Gritless, and on top of that we can't use Blood Weapon with Grit on. So it's actually a bit more than a 20% loss.


The only things I have to complain about pld, are about Bulwark and Tempered Will, especially Tempered Will.
Bulwark should be on a 2min cooldown minimum, and maybe bring block at 100% block, especially whan we have passage of arms on a 2min cd, they can bring the same kind of drawback than Raw Intuition if they need to.
Tempered Will...It's basically shake it off (if not worse), on a 3min cooldown, damn, casters have Surecast, it does almost the same thing, but it's on a 30s cd !!! Change the cd, rework completly the skill like what they're going to do with shake it off, or replace it with somethink else, but please SE, do something about this awful skill, it's the only skill that didn't changed since FFXIV v1, it's insane.
And I don't care if it's fun when it work, I hate having to keep a huge mental list of when it's working, and when it's not working when it should be working. It's useless 99% of the time anyway, and nothing can justify this skill having the same cooldown than a skill like Holmgang.

For Bulwark's cooldown to be justified it needs to have added bang, even if it were just a TP restore on each block. Tempered Will needs a lower cooldown, an ability that breaks Heavy/Bind is good enough IMO, just 3 minutes is too 2.0 meta, and aught to be updated.
It's sad the the Paladin feedback is mostly full DRKs coming to complain. While I'm sure DRKs have issues there is already a thread for feedback on that class.
