I think we are all eager to find this out, I hope we get to see something in video form before E3, come on Yoshi-p lshow us some beta footage from 2.0 :P
3. I suppose what I really wanted to know is what other changes are being to made to the new graphics engine besides the two points about displaying more characters on screen and allowing lower end PCs run the game smoothly. Which is probably what I should have just posted instead of anything about the screenshot.
if we got said footage OP or some1 like OP would only complain that is not in holographic form. or something equally as stupid

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
Damn trolls! What does it say about the graphics performance of the game engine when the dev post a semi promotional shot of the game with no AA, Depth of Field and Ambient Occlusion.

On the note of the new graphics engine can the dev team elaborate what they are changing other than displaying more characters and better scaling of visual fidelity for low end computers.
Don't worry I am pretty sure the dev/rep team has been at this long enough to grow thick skins, and depriving the games fans of sneak peaks at future content will never be on the table as long as the game has fans.
I think we would all like to see some sneak peeks of the new graphics engine, and the new character creation options whenever they are ready.
I would point out that high end renders of 3d models tie up CPU time. It can take days to produce a single image render or an animation, and that computer does nothing else during that time. Of course that doesn't apply to in game screenshots, but the point is providing this sort of thing takes resources that could be used for something else. I look at it as them giving us something fun along with the bi-montly updates, much like the live producer letters. The same goes for the scanned concept drawings provided with the 2.0 info. Yoshi-P does this stuff instead of sleeping.....
They didn't have to do this, and they could treat all of this as trade secrets. Every bit of info they provide us could give their competitors an advantage over them next year.
What would be cool to see when 2.0 comes out would be an artbook with the concept art along with high end renders of characters and enemies. I'd pay for that!
Thanks for the higher resolution! Gear and jobs look amazing and very promising.
Instead of appreciating the quick responsiveness to a request for a larger image, you tried to (very) publicly shame the guy for not making it up to your highest standards? In the spirit of Christmas, that was quite... Dickensian... of you.I must have been unclear with my true intent for the post, since no one has mention anything about what I was asking. I was not trying to upset anyone especially Bayonne who is my fav. community manager (I sing the Moogle Mog song all the time too). A few points I want to make are:
1. Not a hater, I love this game and have played since Alpha and can run the game with full specs in 3D and I think it is the most artistically beautiful games on the market even better than game that aren't MMOs which are normally on the lower end of graphic fidelity.
2. Some one posted that now SQEX may never post a dev shot ever again. Please don't let this be the case. I have never been one to use forums but because of the open communication Yoshida has created between the dev team and the players he has created a place for me to come everyday and read players and devs thoughts on a game I love that is ever changing. Because of this open communication and I feel I have some buy in to the direction of the game.

You basically came down the chimney in a Santa suit, grabbed Bayhone, who was pleasantly decorated with lights, baubles, silver, and gold with a little shiny star on his head, and shoved him up the chimney with all the presents he was... guarding.
In short, you are the Grinch that stole the Malboro's Christmas.![]()

LMFAO you are giving that little taru WAAYYYYYY to much credit, and insinuating he has way more influence then he really does. I can assure you any dev still reading these forums that hasn't found a new job by now takes comments like these with a fine grain of salt.
To be brutally honest your post (and title) seemed to convey that you were dissatisfied with the fact that the devs don't even run the game at high quality then you segued into a question about what they planned on doing with the graphics. You came off pretty rude and nothing in your first post spoke of the tone you are now taking.I must have been unclear with my true intent for the post, since no one has mention anything about what I was asking. If you are truly regretful for what you said, I would just offer that you try to be more careful of how you convey your thoughts.

I think a lot of people are getting onto the forums, knowing that they are going to make a post, before they even know if they have anything to discuss. What does it say about the graphics performance of the game engine when the dev post a semi promotional shot of the game with no AA, Depth of Field and Ambient Occlusion.

Anyone else miss the community reps?
