Let them seek professional counseling, unless they're making threats to self-harm, in which case discreetly alert a moderator. Agree with this completely, this is a good point... first and foremost get professional help, forums like these aren't good for you if you're not in a good place mentally.... and put individuals on ignore, left-click on name then "add to ignore list".

There was an excellent thread a few weeks ago suggesting an option to turn glamours on or off as a menu option for people who do not like disrupted immersion. I think that seems like the most solid solution to make everyone happy.

I don't think so. Many times when upset at something, I will say to just get rid of the thing that has caused me to be upset even if it's something I normally enjoy. I am diagnosed with autism.
