Where can you use PI reliably? Savage mode raiding.
Ability is fantastic and needs zero changes. SE did a good job.
Please do not change PI, square enix.

You only get a confession if it does healing. If they aren't missing health and its 100% overheal then they do NOT get a stack.First things first: The tooltip lies. You always get a confession.
Second things second: It seems like it's only really good in savage raids, where you are casting multiple aoe healing spells in succession. If the confessions lasted longer it'd be very interesting heal in almost any content. I hope that's what happens.
As many have already said, the current state of Plenary Indulgence seems to be entirely tailored towards Savage raiding. It definitely wouldn't hurt if it was tweaked to be more accessible in lower difficulty content. A duration boost is all it needs in its current state, really.
I like using it to speed up recovery in many dungeon fights that have aoe, like after Shinryu's hellfire, Zenos aoe attack in Ala Mhigo, etc. Basically, if you've got several people with missing health and are going to use a medica 2 where more aoe will likely be coming out, it makes a lovely splash heal. I'm sure it's higher tiers work well in higher content, but as someone who tends to focus on dungeons, I figured I would share my experience from that content.
My thoughts exactly. Even just 15 seconds is a lot more convenient; Medica & Medica II takes so long to cast, not even counting the little delay after casting. The timing is too tight to be feasible outside of raids atm, it's all I can say.
I've tried using it in 4-mans, tried testing it in several different situations.
With 1 stack, I find the healing negligible. It's less than 5k unless it crits. That's not even the amount of HP done by a boss's single unavoidable AoE attack, such as Yojimbo's Metta-giri or the first boss's Kenki Release. Medica2+PI will indeed heal everybody to full, but then again, just Medica2 alone would do that after a few seconds (nobody should be getting hit but the tank anyways under normal circumstances), or indeed, a Medica will fall just short of healing everybody to full and natural HP regen should take care of the rest, or just let them go until the next (that tiny amount won't make or break anything).
Getting 2 stacks is nearly impossible without over-healing which means some people will be at full HP and only 1 stack, and some will be at just shy of full HP, with a Medica2 buff on them if I do a Medica2+Medica trying to get 2 stacks. By then, everybody is already full and I have no need of PI anyways, AND what Confession people do have will wear off long before anybody but the tank gets hit again.
Even at 2 stacks, the amount healed (the few times I was successful in actually getting a PI off when someone actually needed some healing) is still paltry at ~7k. Myself, as a healer at ~300 I have 25,000 health. 7k is about 25%. Big whoop.
Metta-giri, for example, hits for 10k.
So I'm going to go ahead and say that it is going to be useless in 90% of all situations in a 4-man dungeon. I could MAYBE get some use out of it whenever you got something like Akh Morn going on... oh wait, I don't HAVE PI in Final Steps. Maybe if I ever ran into a Shinryu in my roulettes? *shrug*
Seems kinda silly to have an ability that is 99% focused on Savage Raids, which a small portion of the playerbase is even interested in doing. Do other jobs have similar abilities that are only useful in those situations?
I suppose I've yet to find a need for the Lv70 PLD ability, though it sounds awesome on paper. It's kinda like cover -- trying to actually get close to a DPS who is about to get nailed is not the easiest thing to do and will oftentimes put yourself at risk, 'cept for maybe something like the first boss of Bardam's. Again... you don't HAVE that ability at that point because it's Lv70.
there is one change they NEED to do though, and that is to (at least) double the buff duration. that is all it would take to make it actually useful in any content. please SE!
Yeah, extending the duration to 15 or perhaps 20 seconds would help quite a lot even in Savage tbh. I'm not convinced that going beyond that would be wise though, it'd certainly be missing the point of the ability, it's meant to be a topper to be used in combination with another aoe heal, not a heal in it's own right. Think more Largesse than Indom.

The problem is, designing it to be a "topper" is, eh... questionable at best. In 4-mans, as I said above, you don't need a "topper", because in most circumstances, a single AoE heal is going to be more than enough to solve whatever problem caused you to cast it in the first place (unless you got truly incompetent players) and in 8-mans, unless you lose a healer, or his swiftcast is down and he needs to snailcast a Raise, you probably aren't going to need a "topper" either, because both healers are going to fire their AoEs simultaneously anytime whole-party damage is taken which is usually more than enough to bring everybody up to just about full.
The few instances where I could think of, like Final Steps, where PI would be nice..... you don't HAVE PI as I also said above.
I hope, though, that they are going to suddenly start adding bosses in future dungeons that spam whole-party damage like candy just because of this ability, though. Because then it will get annoying and we're going to be heading into World of Warcraft territory where you spam heals every single second possible or someone dies. I really don't want to see that. I think that with our current dungeons, Healing is pretty decently balanced. Not perfect, but not far from it.
I don't want PI ruining this.
They put work into WHM raiding. Devine Benison and PI are great for raiding. DB is far better then stoneskin in raids but i stil prefer stoneskin for dungeons. I can see why they removed stoneskin now, they would be just too strong. And now WHM DPS with stone 4 is just redonkeyless. Free mp as well. With little additions/changes and removal of abilities WHM is beastmode. I main PLD (mained WHM til T9 when we desperatly needed a tank) but i still love and use my WHM
