Is there a way to actually use Plenary Indulgence?

So.... I'm trying to wrap my head around Plenary Indulgence.

I've yet to find a realistic situation in which I can actually use it, and really get some actual use out of it.

I know basically how it works -- anytime you heal with Cure3, Medica, or Medica II, people randomly get Confession.

Use Plenary Indulgence to use Confession stacks to heal. Sounds cool.

Except... the Confession stacks wear off far too fast (seriously, 8 seconds I think it was? yeesh). And two, it is much too weak. Two stacks is only ~6k healing. That's about what Assize does IIRC. And Assize gives me MP back and doesn't require the ultra-expensive AoE Heal Spam setup, and always works, and not just sometimes.

Also, Medica and Cure3 doesn't build Lillies last I checked.

So....


PI is weaker than Assize, harder to set up than Assize and doesn't return MP but rather eats MP in the form of expensive AoE heals.

What exactly is this spell intended for? I can't really see any situations where I could possibly be doing enough Medica to get 3, 4+ stacks of Confession to actually make the spell useful and if I did, I'd be blowing through my MP meter like crazy, just to set up one mega-heal instead of, you know, tossing some Cure(2)s to make Assize come back sooner and saving a lot of MP in the process.
