Looking for a (dirt)cheap cpu for playing stormblood.

Hey, I find myself in need of a secondary computer capable of running stormblood at medium settings in 1080p with ~50-60fps. Im ok with dips down to 40.

I dont trust in official requirements and am hoping to hear from other people who are currently gaming on lowend/older systems.

I have an old pc in need of a new harddrive. It has a phenom 2 x4 810 cpu in it. It is comparable to an intel q6600 at stock speeds. I think that one is probably too slow for the current state of the game but if someone is using something comparable i would like to hear of their experiance. I did use that pc during 2.0 but iirc it had some bad fps drops in larger zones like coerthas.

If that cpu wont hold up im considering looking for second hand intel i5 750 system. Those can be gotten for cheap but id rather not spend money before hearing from people using it, given its age.

Given the changes between HW and Stormblood going from an i5-2400 to an i7-3770K mid-HW, the CPU usage didn't seem to change all that much. As far as gaming goes, the i5 IS the better candidate (assuming it doesn't have hyperthreading in your intel i5 system), as the lack of hyperthreading means that it isn't splitting each core into 2 virtual cores (unlike on my i7)

Just an FYI, your motherboard needs to support anything you put into it.

Right, if i buy a cpu ill be getting a motherboard to go along with it. My main computer has an i5 2500k@4.2ghz. It runs the game fine but im currently working with my dad in another city for couple of months (going back and forth a bit) so im trying to avoid having to bring my pc with me.

So youre right, i dont have high hopes for my phenom2 pc, though if i find a hdd im might try it before i decide. As for the 750 i would like to be relatively sure it can handle the game before i go out looking for one.

Well, I run SB with a laptop Intel Core I5 (3rd Gen), 4GB RAM and Intel video and runs nice on DX9. But on my wide's notebook, a Core I3 (2nd Gen), 4GB RAM and also a Intel video it ran, but was slow.

on max setting 1080p
70FPS in the field
40~60 in dungeon.
25~30 FPS in cities =(

and my Celeron 1.83GHz 4GB ram laptop gets 2~4 FPS everywhere.

This fills me with hope, thx. ill see how it runs on the phenom first. it has 4gb ram and a geforce 560ti in it. I think that should be enough but if not ill bring over a 280x from my main rigg.
