Hear me out; I actually think a "Gentle" version of Extreme content could be a good thing. I'm the type of player who likes to progress, likes to face new challenges... but Extreme content has never been something I can get into. I look up guide videos, and it's ridiculous. It's like 10 minutes of rapid-fire mechanics details -- by the end of it, I forget half the stuff they said before. And with my experience of the toxic jerks I find in normal raids, there is no way I'm going to even TRY Extreme primals or Omega Deltascape. Being a new person in that kind of content just isn't an option.

However, recently I've been looking at ARR 2.0 Extreme primals, just for the heck of it, to see if I could clear it solo, unsynched. Turns out, it's not really possible -- there is usually some mechanic that forces at least a few players to be there. But still, it was fun to see the fights and experience the mechanics in there. It actually seemed not as scary or complex as I thought it would be, when it was just me and there were no stakes.

So, how about a "Gentle" or "Practice" mode of Extreme primals or trials, that essentially nerfs the boss to a great degree, similar to unsynched content? There would be no prize for completion, but instead offer the greatest reward of all: the opportunity to see the content and practice, and build the confidence of players to actually queue with a group of players for the real thing! Actually, we don't even need to track damage or DPS for this -- just track a score of "points" for each mechanic you do correctly, or AoE you dodge, and move through phases at set intervals. At the end, you get a score to say how good you did, based on your role. We could do this Practice Mode a few times, until we feel comfortable to tackle the real thing with a group and try for some real rewards. I dunno, I think this would be a good thing.
