Alchemy Transfiguration Potion

If anyone here played Everquest when they were kids, or younger versions of their adult selves, do you recall the potions that would allow you to transform into another race for an abbreviated period of time? The duration was a 30 minutes, or an hour, something along those lines, and I would love to see that introduced to ffxiv as an Alchemy potion. Would something like that work? Has it ever been tossed around? What would be a reason they would not want transfiguration pots?

Good point, though if it was only temporary and limited to a particular look (one for male one for female), I doubt it would affect sales.

If it worked the way it does in WoW (where you use items not potions), you could transform into creatures, npcs etc that are not available on the character creation screen and only for a limited time, 10-20 mins with a longish cooldown. So for example you could become an adorable little catfish person, a succubus, Viera (one way of getting them into the game) or even take on the likeness of a raid mob briefly.

The 2014 All Saint's Wake event did this and it was great fun. Imps in Uldah would glamour your appearance to a random MSQ NPC and it would last until you left the area. You could perform a full range of emotes - turning into Minfilia and dancing was particularly popular!

If they created some content that let you do this again and limited it to certain areas, I'm sure it would be popular.

Yep, that's one thing that came to mind, and I also thought that a temporary potion could assist in making up a player's mind on really going in for that potion purchase if they like seeing themselves as another race :]

I remember these items in WoW, and it totally slips my mind what you got turned into...I think one was a ninja? The LONG cooldown was a drawback, but they were fun items and I don't see this having an effect on Fantasia pots either! It'd be a cool thing for Alchemy

I would say that temporary race potions would be cool! Each race has its own look, feel and animation. IMO, what they could do is allow you to use a potion that gives you, say, 5 minutes, and only works while you are outside of an instance or solo duty (entering an instance would immediately remove the buff), and it would also be removed upon going into a cutscene.

Otherwise, you could fight enemies with it (which is 90% of the reason behind my suggestion) so that you can SEE what your character looks like, and your character's animations in actual combat.

This would help SE sell more Fantasias as people would indeed be able to "Preview" what their character would look like as far as animations go. I've been pondering a chance from Miqo'te to Au Ra, but I don't know... I haven't seen enough emotes, battle animations, etc to really know what my character would feel like and I doubt watching a video would really give me what I'm really looking for either. I don't want to do the Fantasia, then find out I don't like it and end up needing a 2nd to change back.

Only 30 minutes/only shows race gear and a predetermined skin color/hair style and can't be equipped with anything/breaks in combat.

Boom. Doesn't effect fantasias at all.
