What proof is there of this? And who in their right mind would buy a character if it's so easy to level one on your own?

Lazy People would and did in FFXI. I could tell you Stories where People spend more Money on a Character than others do on a Car. You just need to google for FFXIV Characters and you will find them.

I think PL'ing is fine and that is what Yoshi wanted, but its going to fast. If it would take like 4 Weeks for a Class from 1 to 50 it would be still fine, but 4 days from 1 to 50 is hilarious.
