Yes its another PL thread...
Seriously though I notice people PLing different jobs with each patch (this one is archer), and from what i've seen of the moogle fight archer's really aren't that much better then any other class. Its just easier to do it with archers so why not just have everyone level archer, especially considering it only takes a few days of PLing to get a class to 50.
Also 1/2 the people in my LS spend time grinding jobs, I get that its something to do but people aren't making any real effort getting primal fight groups together, especially considering the speed at which SE has been rendering equipment obsolete
their really isn't anything productive long term to do outside of level.
Also now that getting jobs to 50 is so productive, people are grinding every job to 50, so now something that was originally implemented to decrease the leveling speed ended up just destroying class uniqueness and encouraging people to level every job and grind even more!
One more thing, 2 people switching off PLing people is faster then leveling in a group from 1-30 so it destroys that. In fact its faster to PL a secondary account and PL yourself to 30 then it is to actually level to 30 due to the lack of parties present because of said PLing.
That being said (and this is one of my favorites), people are starting to PL account characters and then selling them for money as a form of gold farming.
I get PLing is a great way to get your friends into FFXIV but is it any better then just letting people get to 50 quickly on their own?
I see why people feel strongly about this topic I think this issue supports a larger idealistic issue that has gone unresolved in MMO's for far too long. Is yoshi-P and his development team willing to ask these questions? The party system and player search is in place, why is SE still letting PLing be 50% of what people are spending their time doing in game.
I'm placing my bet now, when p2p starts this games criticism is going to get a lot harsher and a lot more realistic. And PLing is going to be on of the first things in everyones crosshairs.

I hope what i said doesn't derail the topic too much, more importantly i'd like to read what the community thinks of PLing in terms of how or if it affects other content NOT the ethics of it.
