    HQ system overhaul

    If I remember correctly, in the future the HQ crafting system will be symplified to
    HQ + HQ + HQ material = HQ item, but I can't seem to find in what future patch that system is supposed to be implemented. I have quite a number of HQ mats saved for my crafts and am wondering if I should be holding off upgrading and melding gear if there is further benefit to be gained from HQ gears that would be easier to make in the future.

    Im using my +3's but saving my +1's mainly because the +3s are just taking up too much space.

    I think the HQ system is being planned for the next patch.

    How does it work as of 1.2?

    Do we still need to boost the quality to get HQ stuff because I thought they changed it.

    Pretty much this way> The only difference is there is only HQ+1 now instead of +2 and +3 but all prior +3 raw mats are noz taking up even more space since they are now +1.............

    In other words SE backed out of the aforementioned HQ overhaul which was supposed to occur in patch 1.20 and made a feeble attempt at reducing the space HQ materials take by inadvertently increasing the inv space they take.........

    Here's some clarification for some of the unclear parts:

    For synthesis: +1/+2/+3 items are now all treated like the old +3s used to be, meaning they give the exact same starting quality and durability (300ish and 150ish, respectively). Only NQ and +1 items can be created now. The dying process is instant and unfailable, and your gear will retain any materia attached to it.

    For gathering: Only NQ and +1 items are obtainable now.

    For preexisting gear: +1/+2/+3 items now all have the same stats and have been modified to have the stats of what used to be +2 items.

    For preexisting materials: None of your old items have had their quality change, so any old +2/+3s will still be there, but they are effectively identical to the new +1... you just can't stack them together.

    Why they didn't just crawl their database for +2 and +3 items and change them to +1 items, I'll never know.

    I think there's still the synthesis HQ overhaul coming in 1.21.

    +2 and +3 still keep there old NPC sell prices and since they count the same as the new +1 you can use them or sell them for the extra gil.
