I agree with this also i just came back and i cant get enough of it. I still am expecting big things from this game

Glad to get everyones opinions on it so far, I do believe they will turn FFXIV around and make it into something really great and that is the reason that I keep playing.

It's gotten better and I like it but I hope for more. It sure doesn't have the same feel as 11 which at least story wise and lore wise I thought was way better. The story for this one seemed to lack luster but I know they aren't done with it.
I chose grid which was probably a poor choice on my behalf since it deals with some sort of rarely seen entities that make the forest dangerous. Considering I'm not too religious and have difficulty believing in things like that, it made the story feel like I was in a city of cultists. So, a bit biased on that one. I wont talk about the rest of the story but it was kind of hard to really follow of make sense of or really like it....It's decent but I'm kind of picky....

    Graphics = <3

I actually like the battle system and the fatigue system isn't too bad (you CAN grind through it).

Customization is awesome, though I wish there were more tattoos and hair styles for miqo'te.

Expectations? About what I thought initially. I didn't expect it to be like 11, it shouldn't its a new game. Didn't expect to initially love it. I feel about the same as I do now so it lived up to my expectations.

Making money, is easy. The best way to get rid of Gil sellers are to make it unnecessary to even need to purchase from them. I don't mind money being easily obtainable.

The only thing keeping me on game is 1. Archer and 2. My link shell. This game would not be as fun as it is without my link shell. Without those, leveling would be a pain, there wouldn't be much motivation to level since there aren't things like air ship passes or chocobo stuff.

End game is....well...it's there. It does provide something to do and I do have fun with it but... NM wise there is the hat which is nice for DDs but unless your lancer gladiator and I think Marauder there aren't any end game weapons for ya (yes I know there is the crab bow) so once you get the hat your done. End game leves are nice, I just wish that there was a 100% drop rate on getting something valuable since those 400 faction points aren't easy to farm, or at least a decrease in the amount needed. Otherwise, end game is fun. It does need more but for now its nice.

I feel fine with it, but then again, I'm not one of these higher-than-thou customers. I'm an insane FF fan, and whatever they release, I'll play. Simple as that. There really is no other option for me, I've never played a game, any game, that entertained and inspired me half as much as any Final Fantasy title.

As an artist, it's simply brilliant. So I don't care "if" it will succeed, or "when", or whatever new patch comes out. I play what they make, and enjoy it immensely regardless. That's it.

The game in its current state works for me.A little polish here and there, and its got something unique. Unlike the other "experts" who flood the forums with retard opinions, I understand that this game as it stands is nothing more than a foundation. It takes years to build up a MMO. Wait till the first expansion pack before calling this a true fail.

There has rarely been, a finished MMO at launch. Its always a work in progress.

They are almost always a completely different game just half a decade after launch. True, this isn't the best launch Ive seen, but it certainly isn't the worst. From my own personal resume of MMO's I would say that title goes to AoC. Shucks, I remember WoW took me three days to log in at launch. That game was pretty lame up till BC launched. Too bad LK went the opposite direction entirely. Come to think of it, Asherons call was the only one I would call a perfect launch and a final product. True it had some small tweaking and changes to rules. But overall the essence of the game is the same as it was 13 years ago.

As for me, Ill be here till I get my two DoM classes to 50. And my LW/Cloth to 50.
After that Ill leave till the PS3 launch satisfied that a solid foundation for my future with this game has been laid.
I know the PS3 launch will be just like Zilart when it launched nearly a decade ago. To this day I can readily claim that it was the best expansion pack of ANY mmo ive ever played. I expect they will have their first expansion pack for 14 be an epic of epicness.

FFXI-2 I admit it that is what I expected also the great storyline the game-play the overall things that i love in FFXI i was hoping to see it in day 1 of release from FFXIV. By all means i did not want to see 100% copy but a new version of it.

    Which are
    Garrison
    BCNM
    Low-NM
    Med high-NM
Rank mission: Understanding the city and what they do for the world
Race-Quest:"So you understand your Race backstory"
    NPC-Quest: Understanding Mobs,Areas,Items
Job Quest: Understanding your class back-story and the history
PvP: Not open PvP but a type of PVP system "Not a type who like pvp but alway nice to have it"

That what i want the game to have from day 1 of the release by Beta 3 i knew that game would not have much to do. It was going to lack and player base would dislike it. Back when i was playing FFXI and someone told me SE going to show there new MMO on E3. I knew it was rapture it was a big talk in ffxi back then when i was low level. Everything tanaka was saying was very nice it hype everyone.

Then FFXIV arrived and I admit I was very disappointed but i knew it would not not change much from open beta. I play beta1 and seem nothing did change from beta1-open. I did play FFXIV for hours and days and stop this year switch servers at 37 in nov update. Switch and now am 44 i'm my new server i would be 50 but there nothing to do so i playing other mmo for now.

I think Final Fantasy XIV with time it would reach the level of FFXI right now i be more happy with FFXI2.0 then what we have on FFXIV. playing FFXIV was like "Did SE learn noting?"

I think with time ffxiv would become a great game and most of the ppl who quit would return. Rift and other mmo just don't give you what FFXIV/FFXI can give you.

i'm probably more like 50 50 on the game now, loved ffxi and though i don't want a ffxi-2 i did expect the best parts of it in the game and it's more like the worst parts of it have been added only. i hate how they trying to provide a game for every type of player it basically is ruining it for me. i don't think ffxi was in any way casual and trying to fit casual in has just turned a game that takes time and dedication into something just as lengthy but boring as watching shit cook in the heat. if they add a ton more party play missions/quests (not talking leves i find them boring and makes me sad they are part of our main content along with behest) and some real content along side making the grinding way more party based then i'd probably be happy(screw 2-3man grinds, we had 15 and it was fun).

but all and above anything even if they make this game into the game of my dreams i will not pay for it till they fix my biggest problem with the game, i'm stuck on an empty server and everyday it is chiseling whatever joy i have left in the game. only so much more crafting i can take when no one around to do things with, i wont solo a dang thing, i'll quit b4 that.

buuuuuut, lol i still have hope for it, i still chose to play it out of any mmo out (for now). i think it is sorta moving in the right direction(exept this less party members for things like grinding and upcomming dungeons, i need my large scale stuff, small party stuff will keep me happy for a minute), hard to tell really till it's all said and done.

These things exist, you just have to read the actual quest text >.>

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. I love the active battles, battle regimens, the armory system, the story itself is great from what I've seen so far(the Limsa story arc is pretty "wtf"), and the game itself is beautiful.

That said, I can't say that I'm not wishing there was more. It's still missing several things to make it "feel" like Final Fantasy to me like chocobos, certain types of mobs, etc. I was also hoping for a much larger world at launch. I couldn't believe that in 20 gigs of data install, there were no other zones to hit other than the 5 current ones. I was also disappointed by the lack of more classes, which for the record I don't feel need to be renamed as I like the classical naming style, such as musketeer, arcanist, shepard, mystic, fencer, etc.

All and all, I'm just annoyed that the game was released in the unfinished state that it was in at launch. I've pretty much explored most if not all of Eorzea, and while I keep finding nice little surprises like what look like beastman totems, sylph groves, refugee camps, sky auroras and such, I keep finding invisible walls that I "don't have access to" or areas on maps that clearly look like there should be a dungeon there. There are just too many rough edges for me not to believe that the game being rushed out wasn't the case.

Assuming this is the case, I think that had Tanaka had more time, he wouldn't have stepped down from his position, the game would have been better for it, wouldn't have gone free to play and Yoshi and a new dev team reshuffle wouldn't have been necessary. That isn't to say that I don't like that he's taking a more communicative stance with the players, and I believe that Final Fantasy has always thrived on new blood.

    I am enjoying it immensely.

Granted, this is my first MMO so I cannot compare it to anything else, but in FF14 I have found:
    - a wonderful community of players
    - an absolutely beautiful world to explore
    - and lots of activities to keep me busy for many hours every day

I feel no urgent desire to reach R50 or endgame and I am not playing competitively. For me it's really about enjoying the slow journey with many newfound Eorzean friends who are also along for the ride.

SE has improved many things since I started playing in October. I'm looking forward to future version updates and expect that FF14 will continue to get better and better.
