Controller in left hand for movement, right hand on my keyboard for Action/Skills. Mouse/Button for placement AoEs. This has worked for me since ARR.

I use KB/M but sometimes use a controller for gathering a large amount of mats from nodes. Gamepad has cursor memory on nodes so it's pretty easy to gather with it.
Controller for everything and kb for chat. It's pretty fun trying to throw in words between global cds.
I use a controller (nintendo switch pro controller) for everything but chat. I use my pc keyboard for that.
I use a PS4 controller with an attached keyboard to it. It's not perfect for chatting but in a pinch during a battle, saying anything at all is better than not being able to say anything unless I drop the controller for a minute to do so on a regular kb.
I use the keyboard solely for chat purposes. After 4.0 hit I'm using only three crossbars opposed to four for combat and still have empty slots.
Do you use the extended and W cross bars? With those you have 48 ability slots at once before even needing to cycle to a different crossbar (which would give you even more if you can get used to cycling them). And out of combat can be another 16 (or more if you cycle).
My current setup:
• crossbar 1: main combat bar
• crossbar 2: designated to be a second combat bar I could cycle to if needed, but currently not used
• crossbar 3: main out-of-combat crossbar
• crossbar 4: extended crossbar, used for extra combat skills
• crossbar 8: W crossbar, will become an additional combat bar once I reach the point where I need the space, but for now is just shortcuts to various main menu windows.
• straight hotbar 1: used on some jobs to display icons for skills activated through the extended crossbar, if I want their cooldowns always visible.
I have my settings set to cycle between crossbars 1 & 2 while my weapon is drawn (though without skills on 2, it just stays on 1), and crossbar 3 while it's sheathed. Bars 4 and 8 aren't included in either cycle, but are assigned as extended and W, respectively. (Bars 5, 6, and 7 I'm not using at all so far.)
Up through level 50, all my combat skills fit on just crossbars 1 and 4 (main and extended), with space to spare. For many jobs, it looks like that might be enough all the way to 70, but SMN and SCH will need another for pet skills. I'll probably use the W crossbar for that when I reach the point where I need to.
The only thing I use my keyboard for is chat.
Outside of party content i use controller 100%
Inside party content i use controller with my left hand for movement and
Keyboard with my right hand for actions.
