How to rotate char in legacy control using mouse / keyboard ?

is there any way to rotate your character without moving in legacy control mode ?

in standard control mode, you can rotate your char without moving by dragging right click mouse or pressing A/D.

this come in handy in dungeon with boss that use thin ice such as Aetherochemical Facility in heavensward and some other dungeon.

by rotating your character you can "aim" your sliding movement to avoid boss AOE.

In Legacy mode you can't rotate your character outside of first-person mode. How I aim my character to slide exactly where I want I use camera for it instead. Because if I click W, the character will always run exactly where my camera is pointing at, or if I push S character runs exactly towards my screen. I find this more accurate 'ice sliding aiming' than if only my character rotated.

One of the major purposes of of Legacy mode is so that "forward" is always whichever direction the camera is pointing, not which direction your character faces. Aiming is as simple as turning the camera. In legacy mode, left click and drag will turn the camera, as will right click and drag. The two have slightly different functionality when autorunning, but if you're not autorunning, they both just turn the camera.

In terms of a QE-WASD setup, the binds would look like this:
    Move Forward : W
    Move Back / Walk Backwards : S
    Move Left / Turn Left : Q
    Move Right / Turn Right : E
    Strafe Left : Unbound
    Strafe Right : Unbound
    ...
Move Camera to the Left : A
Move Camera to the Right : D

Then, despite the misleading naming of the keybinds, when you want to "turn", you move the camera with A/D and then move forward/backward with W/S. The Move/Turn binds will be for strafing.

(Tangential: the strafe keys should be mapped to Move Left / Move Right instead of Strafe Left / Strafe Right because the other major purpose of legacy mode is to be able to move at the same speed in all eight directions, instead of backpedaling. If you bind to Strafe instead of Move, you will backpedal if moving back and to the side simultanously. Binding to Move avoids this.)

    thanks for the info

i actually never know the existence of legacy control until one of my FC member point it out.
using standard control when you are grinding level in dungeon is taxing on my arm since you need to constantly drag right click to evade AOE precisely.

also i actually rebind strafe to A/D knowing that i will backpedal when moving to back and side.
i am still testing and finding the optimal control for me using legacy.
