Opinions on the PS4 version, please.

Echoing what others have said, I play the PS4 version, and it's works great. I bought a DVI to HDMI adapter to connect my PS4 to my PC monitor so I can play in the best resolution. You can also plug in a mouse and keyboard and just play it as you would a PC. Next expansion I'll be back on PC, but as of now, the console version is perfectly good.

PS4 is a great console for playing FFXIV!
You can also enjoy it with 60 fps rate if you buy a pro.
Almost players aren't able to tell a PS4 playing from a High-end PC playing.

However, I have to tell you some demerits on PS4.
/ You can't play FFXIV during not only FFXIV maintenance, also PSN maintenance.
/ Process for screenshots or videos is a little bit boring.
/ You can't use any tools like ACT.

there's actually this bug with older PS4 models where it cannot share enough power to each USB device. it usually causes the PS4 to go into this safety mode and completely shut off all USB inputs until reset. so just to be cautious, OP, make sure only the mouse, keyboard, and headset (optional), are connected to the PS4 and not any charging cables or other USB headset devices other than the one you are using.

Never heard of this one and I use a usb hub on my launch ps4. Maybe lucky , but isnt really a problem for the OP anyway. He is getting a Pro.

PS4 is great though if you have the chance to upgrade its disk to an SSD you'll notice it. The loading times are the only area I dislike the base PS4's performance.

You can play during PSN maintenance, you just can't connect to the launcher, because it needs to authenticate with PSN, but if you're already on the game you're fine. Its a 50/50 situation.

I played on PS4 for a while after i decided that my old laptop's performance was unacceptable to enjoy the game. It worked like a dream until i upgraded my PC, and i haven't really touched it since (barring the couple times i needed to replace a part and couldn't use my PC for a few days).

It ran well on the vanilla PS4, i can only imagine it runs much better on the Pro

Just as an update, I did buy the PS4 Pro Sunday night, installed FFXIV and started playing the next morning. I have to say it is wonderful, apart from the slightly longer load times. The frame rate is consistent, which is about as much as I can ask for in a game. It's a shame that I couldn't transfer my hotbar settings, though. Manually setting those up again is a PITA, but it is what it is.

Nice, I have a pro as well and used it all the way up to my recent PC upgrade. Had everything hooked up to it and it was great (Keyboard/Mouse). Also for setting those hotbars, don't forget you can copy/clone hotbars to different classes to make your llife easier. Really useful for crafters/gathers classes. I had to re do all my crossbars as well on my PC when I moved over and it was annoying, but I actually was able to optimize button locations haha. glass half full
