Any Monk PVP guide for patch 4.0?

Hi guys! I'm new to pvp and new to the game itself. Is there any guide for Monk pvp? I really enjoy doing pvp but in this game i dont really know the burst and rotations. Any help will be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Your top burst is having riddle of fire up then tornadokick>forbidden chakra, it should deal around 7k damage, before and after this burst u may usually want to spam ogcd with ur damage combo to deal massive damages

Hi Mirch! Thanks for the reply!. So you mean that Riddle of fire into tornado kick+forbidden chakra can one hit? awesome! for the damage combo what do u usually use first? combo 2 (DK-TS-Demo) into combo 1 (BS-TS-SP)? or the other way around? and how do you often somersault? do you weave it in between the damage combos?

Sorry too many questions, pls bear with me

I am by no means a pro Monk PvPer, but I would recommend to keep Form Shift on an easily reached key. You can keep up three stacks of greased lightning if you time each stance right as to not wait TP. That offers you a quick shoulder tackle into tornado kick of you see a weak runner. Any other time would be the demolish combo first and do sommersault usually near the end of each combo. Though, you can easily weave it as much as possible between each ogcd when it''s available for a quick Forbidden Chakra. If they fight back, you can enter into Riddle of the Earth until you are granted Earth's reply. You can then change to Riddle of Fire and I do believe you continue to have the buff of earth's reply so you take less damage and deal more of it.

Thanks for the share Karuharu! I will try it out later on pvp. Anyways, so basically monk's gameplay is just waiting for the right timing to burst down someone?

Shouldn't The Forbidden Chakra be used before Tornado Kick? Since Tornado Kick will remove Greased Lightning and that means lower damage.

This is how I do a crazy burst, but I've only done it on the dummy. I've only been playing MNK in PvP for the last 3 days as well since I just finished bringing DRG to level 60 so now it's MNKs turn.

Need full Greased Lightning and at least 3 Chakra, maybe 2 is enough. Bold text is GCD skill.

Dragon Kick > Twin Snakes > Wind Tackle > Riddle of Fire when GCD is over > Demolish > Somersault or Riddle of Wind > Bootshine > Riddle of Wind or Somersault > True Strike > The Forbidden Chakra > Snap Punch > Tornado Kick > Somersault again because why not > Normal combo if they still alive.

Even without Riddle of Fire, this does a high amount of damage. You can add in a Somersault like between Dragon Kick > Twin Snakes maybe.

The problem with this though is that it takes a while to get up to the crazy burst at the end so the healer could be prepared. I was thinking in real situations doing a Wind Tackle > non buffed Demolish on someone, walk away and charge up to True Strike on someone else, Riddle of Wind to target and finish combo from True Strike onwards.

Really had to say without more hours spent on MNK but that's how a noob like me wants to play the job for now.

that burst combo is too long... before you finish the whole set of it you'd be dead.. i think. just my opinion

He's got the right idea but its too long. You usually have around 4 seconds to burst someone before a responsible healer stops you if they haven't already noticed you setting up.

MNK takes a lot of prep work for burst but the burst is enormous when it happens

Ideally before burst you want Riddle of Wind/Fire up and all resources filled. Mark someone with Demolish before you start with Riddle of Fire

Wind Tackle > Riddle of Fire > Bootshine > Tornado > Forbidden > Somersault > True Strike > Somersault > Riddle of Wind

After Riddle of Fire starts the burst is about 3 seconds long from GCD to GCD with some skills after the 2nd GCD for just follow up damage and chakra building. If you want to try and front load more damage prep to open with Snap Punch instead but that can be difficult to time.

I think that's basically the accepted burst but feel to correct me if it seems off.

Edit: The previous burst was mainly showing the charge up. Making sure Demolish was on the enemy before doing a strong burst as you land Snap Punch. But lately I've been preferring this a lot. It needs just as much charge up as before, but I'm not writing it down since you can go about it in different ways. And I prefer to charge up on other people and not the person I want to burst down.

    I've started to use this.

Charge up at least 4 chakra and full Greased Lightning. Can do with 3 Chakra, but I prefer 4 so at the end of the combo you have 1-2 chakra saved up. Have Demolish combo ready on Demolish with GCD waiting.

You have like 12 seconds or so before the combo timer runs out, so you have like 6-8 seconds to get in range of someone to Wind Tackle them. This melts down casters.

Wind Tackle > Demolish > Forbidden Chakra > Somersault > Bootshine > Riddle of Wind > Tornado Kick

That's the end of the burst, does like 11k damage. Swap Somersault and Forbidden Chakra around if you started with 3 Chakra.

You can then continue the combo if they are't dead. It won't be high burst damage but it can help you to get back Chakra and Greased Lightning

(After Tornado Kick) > True Strike > Somersault > Snap Punch > (Continue on as normal)
