So what does your UI and hot bar layout look like?

I just came back from a ~6 month break and my UI and my hot bars are a bit messy. I would like to see how other people arranged them. I mainly play AST and SCH but WHM is welcome too of course. I am just looking for some inspiration.

    Thank you.

(if this has been asked recently before than I am sorry but I couldn't find anything from 4.0+)

I keep mine split based on skills I use regularly and Utility. I have a gaming mouse, so the Num Keys on the side are assigned to that, DPS is so simple for AST I didn't need to set keys I could quickly reach.

Cards were where I got to have fun, I keep my primary card skills around WASD, so I can shuffle my cards around while moving, since it's not like I can heal and move, and with the addition of Sleeve Draw and Minor Arcana, I just expanded it a little, Minor Arcana is my least used skill since there's no real need for it at this point unless I draw a bad Spire. Time Dilation and Lucid Dreaming get the same deal with being close to WASD, cause those are oGCD.

I use a Logitech G600 mouse, so the hot bars are mapped to correspond to the buttons on that. I also use a Razer Blackwidow keyboard, mostly because it's the only one I've found that allows me to disable Alt+Tab and also reassign one of the macro keys to Program Switch, which is rather important when Alt is my offensive modifier.

Wow I forgot the forums only thumbnail images with no option to enlarge. Right click > Open in new tab to see full size to read the text.

    I like a fancy UI :3

Then again I come from a long standing history playing world of warcraft having super duper customized UI.

I like to keep the middle of my screen as open as possible, so I arrange everything in singular rows for the most part. My pet bar shows up opposite the crafting sets bar when i'm on sch/smn. I organize my abilities on DPS just in a row as i press them but everything else is really kind of random...maybe I will re-group them but at this point, it's muscle memory for me.

Everything I need to see I try to centralize around my party bars and character model. The less my eyes have to dart around, the better I am at reacting to things.

I shove most buttons I know via muscle memory off to the bottom right. Generally my heals are 1-7 or on a mouse button, my damage abilities are Alt+, and my cooldowns are Ctrl+. This didn't stay true forever as we got more and more abilities I had to shove in odd keybinds that worked for me, but it's all memory by now. I have a lot of useless hotbars on the side for convenience.

General thought process is to build up and around the bottom of my model. A U shape around me, if you will. I used the same in WoW with VuhDo, but our party bars being stuck to this big vertical config means I can't really put them underneath me, so they went to the side. Can't make it as clean as I could in the add-on world, but this has worked well for me since coil. Add two more members and a pet to the party list and the space below doesn't look as empty. Pet bar also goes right above my LB bar.

Cooldowns and procs I need to keep track of are on those bars just above my party, often a duplicate button so I can keep them on my Ctrl+ hotbar down in the bottom right. Focus above that cooldown bar. Buffbar placed off to the left so debuffs show up immediately next to me character (slightly up and left from my model).

Not shown are aggro list and duty actions, around where Lambent P is and Turbo T is, respectively. Also, my cast bar is a little above my targeting bar.

    Here's my AST UI:

I generally try to use the same layout in any MMO I play (when possible). The only thing really superfluous is the bars for the emotes and job swapping. All my healers use a variation of this layout and most of my heals aren't on the bars cause they are actually setup as mouseover macros on bar 10 which stays hidden and are accessed through keybinds. Even things like Essential Dignity are bound to mouseovers but I like having anything with a significant cooldown on the bar so I can see if its available at a glance.

I have both Minor Arcana on my bar and a macro that uses the icon for Lord of Crowns so I can tap it when available for dpsing. Minor Arcana is on the bar on its own for activation and to show me when I have Lady of Crowns available. Lady of Crowns is part of my Essential Dignity mouseover macro so that when ED is on cooldown, but Lady is available I can use the same button for another instant heal or double tap for back to back instant heals if needed. When I have Lady of Crowns, the Lord of Crowns button goes dark so I have a visual queue that the dps crown isn't available. I also have a placeholder macro for Sleeve Draw on my third bar until I hit 70.
