Are Evasion and Parry the same thing?

Before you say 'no' - I do understand the difference in terms of miss vs. weapon deflection. I ask, however:

    * None of the attributes in the Patch Notes (STR, DEX, etc.) affect evasion.
    * "Parry" is not listed anywhere in the General Attributes tab for your character.
    * PGL skills are heavily evasion based, (evasion leads to Haymaker proc, etc.), and many PGL arms have +Parry on them.
    * The most heavily weighted base stat for PGL, without adding extra attribute allocations, is in DEX.

PGL doesn't seem to need accuracy all that much, but certain needs evasion. I'm wondering if "Parry" and "Evasion" have the same effects, particularly when it comes to PGL's Haymaker skill.

    Has anyone tested this? Thanks

the current patch notes are damage-related, but actually DEX boost both accuracy and evasion, as well arc damage and block rate for shields. Maybe parry too

The patch notes have other stuff besides damage in them. In fact, the patch notes do say that DEX affects parry.

My question is more on (1) DEX still boosts evasion directly and (2) in either way, whether or not parrying an attack will allow Haymaker to proc. For (2) My gut says yes, but wondering if anyone has tested it.

If the answer is yes than for all intents and purposes, parry == evasion (exception being enemy weaponskills which can't be parried, for example).

When you fully parry an enemy attack, it shows up as "miss". Why else would so many claws/hora have +Parry on them?

Incorrect, you can zero-out an attack with a parry but it doesn't convert it to a miss. If you parry an attack, you have been hit (just for less damage than normal).

Evasion is only calculated by the Evade (and Magic Evade) stats and the lvl of the defender. DEX has nothing to do now with Evade.

^^^ I can confirm this guy is correct. Full parry shows up as a 0, Evasion stat is the only thing that affects evasion.

Thanks for confirmation. Still seems stupid that hora have +parry and PGL are DEX stacked by default but now I know where to put my attribute points. Thanks

Parrying is still useful, and I think you get checked for Evade before you Parry anyway.
