    DirectX Error 11000002

I've spent months trying to fix this direct x error I get while playing. I've contacted the square enix customer support, and I got copy pasted a page which I said in my message I had already tried as a step to fix it. So, I'm here on the forums, looking for any possible help I might get.

    Specs:

    AMD Radeon R9 380
    Intel i5-6600k
    8 GB of ram

This error occurs fairly randomly during gameplay; pretty much anything I'm doing can cause this error to pop up.

List of steps taken to attempt to resolve issue:
-Used DDU to remove all drivers, then reverted back to multiple different graphics driver versions which other people had posted worked for them (none worked for me)
-Updated graphics card to latest drivers and beta drivers (neither worked)
-Tried playing in fullscreen as well as borderless windowed
-Changed graphics settings in game (even on complete minimum settings, crashes still occur)
-Uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times
-Made sure there was an exception for windows firewall for the game
-Removed peripheral USB devices to create a "simpler" environment
-Closed every single program other than FFXIV and ran the game
-Changed start-up settings to remove any unnecessary programs from booting up

I'm at my wits end. I have no idea what else to do. My only "solution" is to play on direct x 9, which stutters horribly despite having stable 60 FPS.

I just want to be able to play the game. I have no idea how to make that possible other than what I've already done. I cannot afford a new graphics card; this one is less than a year old, and I have absolutely no issues with any games other than FFXIV.

Worth noting, this was not always the case. The game used to run very smoothly without any direct x errors in the past.

Did you try the power-management settings? It is a long shot though, as Nvidia is looking into it themselves as well.

Anyway, as mentioned in this thread; http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...n-Nvidia-cards

Thank you for the reply. I read the thread you linked. I'm not overclocking at all. I could give underclocking my voltage a shot. I'm not exactly tech-savvy with this, so, I'll ask my friend for some assistance here.

Anyone have any other ideas? I really am not enjoying playing with all this stuttering in direct x 9..

Having this problem for months now. Only way for me to not crash my system or get a DX9 restart (which sometimes lag my entire system) is not to open any other windows; Chrome, Window Explorer, even notepad. Now I can't even use ffxivclock without fear of either 11000002 appearing on dx11 or a restart on dx9 that might slow the entire system down....

Using the R9 280x; already did the usual DDU sequence of stuff and even reformated my comp and reinstalled everything.... Still the same problems.

ATI released recent drivers that helped fix this issues. Did any of you guys download and install the latest drivers? So far this update have fixed my crashing issue a lot.

If you're talking about the optional drivers, I have tried that. If you're talking about the latest non-optional, I have also tried that.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same GPU as you and the new 17.7.1 driver fixed it for me. Try doing a clean install by using the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility to completely remove it from your system before reinstalling it.

Having the same problem even after the 17.7.1 drivers. I also tried the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility; everything went clean for about and hour until the error appeared again. The only solution I've found is setting the game to DX9 and locking it at 30 frames. This seems to keep it stable but with the loss of frames the game feels sluggish. Playing at DX9 with 60fps or Unlimited causes my screen to go black for a few moments and the game refreshing back in.
