Maybe as a companion like during 1.0
Show up in MSQ quests, help you to do some stuff, 100% not controllable, can speak, don't show up outside of MSQ

I'd shelf the job if they did that.
I miss ginger (my ffxi wyvern), but my bird messes up way more than she ever did. Until the fix the AI (sometime after never) no.

In order to get a flying battle lizard, you would get:
- a hit of about -40% to your personal damage
- a stupid pet that can't avoid any AoE and is constantly getting killing
- a periodic animation lock of a few seconds when you resummon him after he dies

Not sure but I think they left out the FFXI dragoon's wyverns on purpose for FFXIV. too bad, they were adorable.
...why this again? I'm pretty sure you made this suggestions months ago and the discussion went on for a while.
(for anyone who want to take a look at it: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...nd-the-Dragoon)
I dont feel like repeating myself in length here, but: Just get over FFXI and how dragoon used to be in that game. In FFXIV its a melee-job, not a pet-job. Lorewise its a job that was developed over 1.000 years to slaughter dragons.
Play FFXI if you want to play FFXI-dragoon.

If I remember right they said one time in a Live Letter that if Dragoons got a Wyvern pet they would have to nerf Dragoon's damage to make up for the pet doing damage. I personally don't really want that. My number one memory from FF11 was summoning my wyvern and it getting one shot by a bomb toss not 10 seconds after words and only being half a job for 2 hours instead of playing a MNK, DRK, or a SAM and not having to rely on a pet. Based on how they did SMN in FF14 i really don't think they would make a good wyvern pet in this game.

In the context of their XIV kit, it would probably consist of nerfing the dragoon's personal damage by X% and moving all the BotD skills(Fang and Claw, Wheeling Thrust, Geirskogul, Nastrondr) to a pet bar. I don't know if anyone would play the job at that point. If I remember right they said one time in a Live Letter that if Dragoons got a Wyvern pet they would have to nerf Dragoon's damage to make up for the pet doing damage. Not neccarcilied these could be move that you and your dragon attack together as. the issue that SE is face with pet jobs is a lack of tied in pet attack with Character attack moves. already SE is work on AI system with rumor of adventure Squadron. One doesn't nerf attack of dragoons just Equalized it with dragon dps as well. Fang and Claw, Wheeling Thrust, Geirskogul, Nastrondr could be attack for both dragoon and dragonling at same time.
at lvl 70-80 the dragoon will be get stronger like all every Jobs one could introduce a dragonling companion the Equalized the dps together with dragoon.
at lvl 70 the dragonling could introduce at the next expansion point
right now we in to patch rotation of stormblood
we know that FFXIV isn't over not in silent that we evenaulty going have face the emperor

Always hated the reasoning that XI's dragoons weren't dragonslayers. The whole point of that job's lore was that you found one of the rare holy dragons that could even be a companion. Anyway if you want some nostalgia, just dress up
