These are my issues with WAR, all of these might just be me sucking at the job. But hey did not SE say that they would make the jobs easier and not harder to play in SB, less punishing and so on?
1) Unchained: the main problem with IR is not that it share a recast time with unchained, it is however the only problem with unchained since it pretty much made it an unwanted skill. Making it so that these two skills does not share a recast would fix it, removing the cost of using it did not.
2) Inner Release: for IR the main problem is how it is designed, its immunity works but not when SE thinks they should not and they never tell us this making it a "surprised we messed with you!" sort of thing. The buildup for a IR+zerk window is really long, it takes time but that is not the main issue since you can build up without fearing to lose the benefits of the skill. The main issue is how long the burst window is combined with the current boss design that has a lot of movement to and from a boss, sure these times are not long but they don't have to be in order to be punishing during this window. There are ways to fix this skill, not sure if anyone else want it changed but these are my suggestions.
a) IR give the next attack that cost gauge a really large dps increase, the skill costs the entire gauge. One insanely strong fell cleave would be just as satisfying as 6 normal ones, and you would not need to bash those buttons.
b) A simple dps increase.
c) Gives the war a 1min buff that halves the beast gauge cost of <x amount> attacks that cost beast gauge, when the min is up or the amount of skills used the buff is over.
d) Gives the party a damage up buff.
3) The potency of our normal combos. Since SE is most likely going of dummy numbers as they count our dps I am guessing IR is the primary reason why they are unwilling to buff these, buffing them so we can keep close to the other tanks even without maximizing IR would in their mind make the class OP since on a dummy you can always maximize IR, so any fight where you can do that WAR would be OP if they buffed the potency of our normal combos.
On the defensive side WAR is fine, if anything I would want them to give DRK one more def skill and shorten down the 3min ones for DRK and PLD toward 2min.
I am however not hopeful that SE will listen to our complains, they did not from the media tour until release. Sure they fixed the stance swapping in 4.05 which was a thing they broke in the first place, they are also going to change Shake it off which is a skill that never should have been in the game in the first place, until it is fixed we pretty much lack a lvl68 skill, yay for progression times without one. So some obvious fixes but unless they want WAR to be on the sideline this expansion they have to make some rather big changes come 4.1.
Time to raid as another tank I guess, not seeing SE fixing this in the next couple of years no matter how much we complain.
