I was talking about the fact that he shortened his name, and I find it completely disrespectful.

Ah I see, for me being half Japanese used to people calling people with short names so Nobu is pretty normal for me
Like say you have someone names Kazuhiro you would call him Kazu or Hirokazu as Hiro, Nobuo sometimes I read in forums and stuff where people call him Nobu-chan, chan/kun ...just something people say after other peoples names and stuff but only if they are like related or friends.
