Hmmmm you know what? I actually agree. They really should like add the option for chat bubbles. It has a sort of charm, you know? Maybe it would make people more social too.

Yup, far easier to read the speech bubbles for dialogue and boss attacks instead of looking down at the chat box for something that scrolls by too fast as is sometimes. I us eit in WoW all of the time and RMT abusing it hasn;t been a problem for many years.
They were horrible in Star Wars Galaxies though and really distracting, especially when people abused them.
Yes, please. A toggle for player speech chat bubbles would be awesome. I always enable it on games that allow me to do so.
I loved this from WoW, would be nice if we could get it here too.
No thank you... it's tacky. Use your chat log.. it's fine. I don't support this in the least. Developer time can be better spent on other things.
The devs have never cited PS3 as a reason a feature couldn't be introduced. That is, and always has been, player speculation. In actuality, when the devs want to add a feature that PS3 can't support, they simply add it just to PS4 and PC, or give PS3 a degraded version. For example, the shiny floor effects, or the half-sized W Crosshotbar. It is possible that there are features that the devs wanted to introduce but couldn't because of the PS3 - but if they exist, it is not an excuse the devs have ever used.
As for speech bubbles, I see no value in them if they work like the NPC speech bubbles. If the NPC is moving around, those speech bubbles are just about impossible to read - and even if they're holding perfectly still, it's difficult. As for distractions from moving and emoting, you pretty much have to have the camera zoomed in close to appreciate emotes properly, and if you're doing that then you're in a low-key enough situation that it's not difficult to quick-scan the chat box.
Someone brought up boss mechanics being difficult to read out of the chat window - just what mechanics are those? Any attack with a cast time is going to show up on the boss's cast bar, which a player is generally keeping an eye on during combat. Some bosses have mechanics that they "emote" to the player, such as Chimera's Violet Eyes / Blue Eyes in Cutter's Cry - those are pasted right across the middle of the screen, as well as in the chat box.
It was the reason that zones were introduced in 2.0 instead of the stupid tunnels they had in 1.0 - the PS3 has 128 MB of RAM and could not hold the entire pre-loaded zone in memory, even with the undrawn parts of the map being hidden by the mountains and tunnels. The devs have never cited PS3 as a reason a feature couldn't be introduced.
This would be so awesome I don't know where to start. Jus make it toggle-able for all nay-sayers and let's gooooooooooo.![]()
I wouldn't mind as long as I can turn it off.

On top of that believe it or not there are a lot of people who will defend the lack of bubbles with their soul (heck people defend the lack of pets into dungeons), so I doubt this will ever happen.
But if it does well, hope so!
