Is sad but true and is prob not the only thing that needs to be upgraded.
It always makes me wonder what our sub money goes to :/

I looked up Besiege for XI, since I didn't play it, and I found people posting where the zone was so overloaded that people's games would completely freeze during Besieged, not responding until after the fate completes. If lucky enough to not completely freeze, they'd have low fps. Players weren't even able to try logging in during it being up. And players were requesting a cap.
So maybe your 300 cap is because of XI community?
It was done for reborn, do it again.
Never had issues like that, it was just laggy at times with infrequent weird bursts of lag, does not compare with ixion. It also depended on if it was a peak time or not and the level of attack, most people did not care about doing 1-3 as much so you never saw those issues then. It was only during a peak log in hour + being level 4 or 5 where problems started (max level of attack/ max bonus reward) When I made this post on ixion it was not a peak hour. So the worst strains of besgaid performed better then the lower end strains of ixion.I looked up Besiege for XI, since I didn't play it, and I found people posting where the zone was so overloaded that people's games would completely freeze during Besieged, not responding until after the fate completes. Subscription money goes to SE not the FFXIV team. They get whatever budget is given to them so it's not like they have a choice as to upgrade everything instantly if they have limited resources.
all SE needs to do is drop the items required to obtain the mount from 12 to 4 or 6.
Inventory UI improvement
Real "Repair All" function
more Teleport favored destinations
Mount Roulette Filter
I'm reading posts of people getting horrid lag. Getting situations where pets wouldn't load (Blue name, no hp bar.) Players due to attempting multiple times being stuck in limbo even AFTER it died.Never had issues like that, it was just laggy at times with infrequent weird bursts of lag, does not compare with ixion. ANd yes, Ixion's crap. We get it. They aren't going to upgrade over Ixion. Specially since when it'll end up like Odin later on where there aren't that many people do it.
Also, as an extra note, it hurts the server less to have people spread out in the zone. Ixion's issues are also just tied to the fact it isn't zone wide, but instead a spot in the zone. I've seen other games (CoughWoWCough) where shoving a bunch of people in one spot crashes the entire server.

I'd be all in favour of this. Occasional maintenance is vital, and bound to happen more often shortly after a new xpack or big patch, but I get the feeling all the downtime lately could have been condensed, or maybe SB could have done with another month or two in the oven before release if there's so much to fix.
Wow fixes it though, this has been going on for months, that would not happen in wow. Also I have no idea what you are talking about, feels like you are just ignoring what I said. That zone was not very big, it would be comparable to having um.. like 6 or 8 areas? (I forget if it was 3 x 3 or 4 x4) so it would be like 9/16 little areas of ixion mashed together, there was a ton of NPCs as well, not just 700 people. I never had problems with "Getting situations where pets wouldn't load (Blue name, no hp bar.) Players due to attempting multiple times being stuck in limbo even AFTER it died." maybe you are just reading posts that played on ps2 or something, I got no clue. It was not even consistently lagging (like ixion is) it would just be infrequent bursts with no zone crashing or on the verge of doing so. Again lag issues only happened at peak times + max reward attacks. What you are describing prob happened to people doing a max fight + peak log in hour + running game on old hardware like ps2/old internet connection.I'm reading posts of people getting horrid lag. I am not expecting them to drop a ton of money for one fate, I am expecting them to upgrade because 1. input lag, meaning it takes too long for an action to happen compared to when you press it, then you have to wait for the animation delay on top of it (I think input delays are easier to notice with crafting/gathering, where everything should be easy to notice with animation delays) 2. they keep giving excuses servers can't handle better inventory management 3. there is not enough server resources to housing. 4. there is not enough server resources to duty finer. The reason I made this thread is that this should be glaring proof something needs to be done when a zone can't handle 300 people.
Yep the car thing was a good comparison, it is like trying to fix a car while it is running so you only do a little bit at a time. in the LONG run, you spend MORE TIME fixing things, then if you pull them down for an extended period of time and fix a lot of major things at once.I'd be all in favour of this. Occasional maintenance is vital, and bound to happen more often shortly after a new xpack or big patch, but I get the feeling all the downtime lately could have been condensed, or maybe SB could have done with another month or two in the oven before release if there's so much to fix.

0 quality HQ is possible
It really was that bad, we learned very quickly not to logout in that area and the game frequently would freeze up in Besieged. If anyone didn't have issues with that they must have been on a very low pop server or started playing after most people had stopped doing Besieged. However, i don't think blaming FFXI players for this is very realistic. The problem is simply that the game is seriously overcrowded at the moment and SE is not going to buy more equipment that won't be needed in a month or so.I looked up Besiege for XI, since I didn't play it, and I found people posting where the zone was so overloaded that people's games would completely freeze during Besieged, not responding until after the fate completes.
