Feels just like Odin and Behemoth did. I never met Coeurlgurina (sp?), but there isn't really anything SE can do to resolve this that makes sense financially other than tune the way credit is given out for participation.
One theory as to why the Foxy Lady FATE isn't plagued by the same issues as Ixion is that Ixion itself is built with an aggro table, limiting Gold medals to the few players that manage get to a certain level on.
That encourages more camping to try to get there first for aggro and to wait around for the next spawn to try to get a better medal next round. Plus, I think you need to do it at least twice for enough tokens for a mount? So more camping.
Foxy Lady, on the other hand, just needs activity. Do a lot to DPS and heal with a party and you'll be fine. The tokens for it's rewards are split between 2 FATES, too. One gold medal on the main fate rewards enough tokens for all 3 reward items, ears, minion, and toy, so you do it once and can move on.

I can't help but think, "Oh man. You should have been here when Odin was a thing. LOL where is the boss?" only be be cleaved and killed by him. At least you can see Ixion, despite the server lag. Odin had stability, on my server anyway, but good luck seeing him, and unlike Ixion, once his HP dropped to a certain point, he prepared Zantestuken- do or die. At that point, he usually killed the server due to being untargettable for most of the people there. There should be no reason I should get silver spaming heals, and being there before it was pulled. The lag/ border line zone crashes are unbearable. I was amazed in seeing all the connection lost icons along with huge stuttering of ixion. I cannot believe this is STILL an issue. This is coming from someone that god gold on foxy lady that popped a minute after, arriving around 70% as well. I know how to get credit on fates.
Please upgrade servers, where zones can handle more then 300 people. It is needed, and a lot of excuses for not having enough inventory is also tied to the low server capacity.
I'll gladly take lag and a silver on Ixion. You might not like it, but it's a massive improvement compared to Odin in those days. It's nice to ask for improvement, but don't act like improvement hasn't been made at all in the grand scheme of things.
Foxy lady gold is enough to get all items. Ixion, if you manage to get all gold medals, requires 6 FATEs. Or extremely lucky and the FATE rewarding you the mount directly. Unless this was changed and simply not multiple instances simply bringing back 3 chances at the FATE.

I really love how OP posts a perfectly valid criticism yet people still find a reason to suck up to Square Enix as much as possible. It's not like we just had a huge server migration or dropped an entire piece of hardware or anything. It's not like this game doesn't both have a subscription and a cash shop. There is also a generous amount of previous event and glamour gear in said cash shop. Let's not also ignore the fact there is a level jump and MSQ skip potion, and fantasias galore. There is a lot of money going into this game. There is zero excuse any sort of open world content should ever crash or overload an instance, period.

It's only an issue right now because so many people are trying for it. It won't be worth upgrading just for the FATE in a few months' time.

That is a fine point. But it doesn't cover why the problem exists at a more fundamental level. We know the zone is busy. But why 300 as someone stated about inventory. My god if the game has this many issues because they decide to rfresh character data every 5 seconds maybe it is time to evaluate that. Also not sure about other servers but Odin till the end of 2.0 and depending on spawn in 3.0 could be hell. I have timed it and still had info from the Odin fight coming 15 mins after he died.
As much as I hate(loathe) Atma/Crystals. Farming a zone for a pop item that allows you to enter an instance that drops special items seems better to me. You have people farming fates helping in the zone at all times so they can go do an instance later. Make Fate titles in the future not for doing 30 min ones but for completing all the regular ones. I never understand the design big and fail over the design around what you have and succeed model 14 has.
Everyone uses the line that they won't upgrade the servers as this is only the expansion rush, however, if you don't upgrade the servers then you lose a good percentage of the people who joined. Upgrading the servers will help you retain those new players.
The consequences of not upgrading the servers is that you lose this new revenue and gain a reputation for bad servers which will drive off potential new customers

Speaking as a long time player, the core group of ffxiv players hasn't changed much. Everyone swarms in for the expansion rushes through the msq and raid content then leaves. The rest of us are still here once they go. SE isn't losing a thing, and is saving money by not wasting money buying equipment that won't be needed after a little while. I think it's kind of funny that people keep going on about how we're losing so many players when in reality, FFXIV is going strong.
To those who call anyone suckups for stating reality, try learning to program. It's not as easy as you think it is and you often can't make huge changes once the base is laid down without reworking the whole game.

Upgrading server infrastructure is vital in the long-term. This goes beyond issues with a particular FATE. Imagine if WoW still ran on the same server infrastructure they were using at launch.
It does, say what you like, it does OP.
