    It really was that bad, we learned very quickly not to logout in that area and the game frequently would freeze up in Besieged. If anyone didn't have issues with that they must have been on a very low pop server or started playing after most people had stopped doing Besieged. However, i don't think blaming FFXI players for this is very realistic. The problem is simply that the game is seriously overcrowded at the moment and SE is not going to buy more equipment that won't be needed in a month or so.

    I think instead perhaps it would be better if they made it an actual fight..you know, content instead of just zerging it until its dead and the "fight" being if you can get into the zone lol. It should be an 8 man challenging fight that drops a horn each time. They could even put materials and a minion in it too to give it replay value...meh,

    I agree the lag is pretty terrible even still. Its normal for me to experience just a few 3-5 second lag spikes maybe like a few random times a week but whenever the window for Ixion spawn is open to warrant major camping I notice I will lag in throughout entire dungeons/trials during this time to the point of being nearly unplayable and also lag in the open world. I really do believe Ixion is the tipping point for servers and should spawn in multiple areas. Back in ARR I experienced this kind of server lag for a short period of time whenever Odin happened to spawn but since players can camp Ixion it lasts until he is spawned and killed. Today the lag is the worse it has been since its Ixion + Server Reset + Savage Opening

    That seems to be the lock out number of people. Once there are 300 in the zone it doesn't let more in.

    Saying the servers haven't been upgraded is inaccurate. You have to look at characters from their base inv to their current inv. If we are to assume that the servers were always designed to hold 300 people per zone when we have. 3.0=100 + 300=400 total inv compared to 4.0=140 + 420= 560. If servers at 400 inv could handle 300 people that's 120,000. Now that's 168,000, 48k more than before. In theory the servers have been upgraded to handle 1/3 more of the load than before. In theory if one were to remove the inventory increase, then the zones could potentially handle 420 people. Have to consider the way things are working from a resource management point since the servers need to be aware of the player's inv, which sadly is the result of those who would cheat and dupe items given the option. so saving said inv at regular intervals prevents this as well as preventing any risk of item loss.


    With that in mind I do feel there are smarter ways to handle this fate. you have to keep in mind, the only reason this situation exist is because of one instance which congest a location. if it wasn't for that people would not be aware of these server issues and the only reason said congestion continues is because people want that one item yet once they get it the congestion will leave. So then honestly ask yourself, why upgrade the servers for something that in a month or two will die down because a majority of people would of gotten it by then?

    As a suggestion as to how they could potentially do things different, I'd suggest something I had suggested once before for Behemoth. FATE instances that lock at 64, you can only enter one of the instances and the instances remain up until the timer on the FATE is done. You group up with people, to enter the same area, then you work with the other randoms that joined the same instance to take down ixion. I think making it 64 limit is more than fair to keep it easy without adding unnecessary difficulty to it. Basically by doing this, more people will have the chance to do the fight, to get the gear faster and the congestion will be reduced because of it. The lag will be reduced because now it's 64 people in a single area rather than sharing with 300+. If they could integrate a system like this, they could then add in more FATEs of this magnitude into the game without having to worry about congesting a zone.

    I agree, it's time they stopped inconveniencing their playbase, and added the required hardware. They can even pull it later if they want. They know how many are logging in (or trying to), they know how many games they sold. The excuses are tiresome and wearing thin.
