What consumers expect of a FF-title

I've said in the past to those who defend XIII by referencing it's massive sales that the game sold well because it was branded "FF".

They did not know all the gameplay and exploration was streamlined out of it to make way for a 30hr soap opera.

I do like FF games but I'm not blind to the lack of content or interactivity in modern games. I think the sales reflect the fact that I'm not the only one who feels this way:

Public is not making the same mistake twice it seems.

In summary my assumption(totally subjective mind you) is that the general public has caught on the fact that Motomu Toriyama can not direct a good game to save his life.

Please SE bring forth new designers that can design games without streamlining everything we love away from this franchise.

In the end money talks and right now people are voting with their wallets.

YEs, I agree SE needs new FF game designers. I remember reading how Final Fantasy came to be and the company was in dire straights. Final Fantasy was a title (along with Dragon Quest) that helped "Square/ Square Soft" (old company name) make surplus. FF was a hit out of creative thinking but desperation. I just wish they can do that again w/o hire freaks and geeks to make new titles. We want RPGs not cinema and EMO-dis-functional characters on a quest.

As far as RPG settings of old, it was based on a single mission orbited by lots of quest (which was optional but necessary). I wouldn't worry so much a visual effects and graphics if the game's going to suck.

Wrong.

Spin-off in regards to a series. "Something that is imitative or derivative of an earlier work, product, or establishment; especially : a television show starring a character popular in a secondary role of an earlier show "

Therefore, anything that has atleast one returning cast member in the same universe as the original work.

In case you didn't know, FFX is a sequel to FFVII, as far as timeline and world. It's canon. Look it up.

Anywayz, all BS aside:

I'm really getting into FF-Tactics now these days. Seem like the closes thing to RPG Final Fantasy is ATM with new releases. I've played all the classics already and killed them all to the point of boredom. So SE can make a decent RPG anymore and slap their logo on it(damn shame, an I'm a fan-boy too).
