And that's the reason why I suspect that if they ever give in and implement a glamour log, it will be half-assed or greatly incoveniencing/hard to use so that people keep using retainers.

Either that or an additional recurring fee just like the retainer(s). They basically sell additional armoury chest space in FFXI.
