Some Simple PvP to Tide Us Over

Since we feel like we're pretty much in a beta for 2.0, I think there should be some very basic PvP to keep us busy when we're chilling in Ul'dah with nothing to do, with the limited content and long party searches.

Now, I'm not talking some crazy world PvP here. I just think there should be some little area where we can attack each other to keep us busy and tide us over 'til the real FFXIV 2.0 we're all waiting for.

Ideally it would be a small zone. Like we go to some NPC and he ports you into an arena area. It doesn't even have to be a pretty area. But maybe something like in the Ul'dah starting quests, where it teleports you to an arena where you kill a level 1 mob. Like that arena. It doesn't even have to have rules in it. The only rule would be you can't attack people in your own party. Once you reach 0 HP you'd have to return or wait for a raise. There doesn't even have to be multiple arenas. Just one for everyone. Just something that requires minimal work and wouldn't delay the development of anything else.

I think just something really simple like that would be a nice little exchange for the fee in JAN.

just a simple /duel option would keep me around. but since the game sucks so bad im sure the pvp would be bad and i would still just quit. 2.0 hurry up before i forget i even wasted money on this game.

i wouldnt mind being able to dual a friend anywhere be nice opition fight ls or friend's. i would love to see them put in something later for PvP Linkshell's Vs Linkshells that would be sweet.

Well, the idea is just a quick simple thing that can be implemented soon. Simply making another instance and then allowing people to attack each other in it, I think, would be easier than that. Also, that wouldn't allow LS fights and such.

It'd be cool to see some people brawling in the streets. An instance isn't a bad idea either, I just think seeing people fighting out in the open would raise excitement throughout the game. (I'm not talking about open world pvp).

Whichever is easiest to implement, I'd say go for it!!

FFXIV isn't a PvP based game. Some classes will be stronger than others. But unbalanced PvP is better than no PvP.

I wonder when it come time to introduce PvP, if they're gonna try to balance the classes, or do something where you can only challenge someone that's the same class as you? Or if it'll just be a free for all. Because I thought that was the big challenge with PvP in many/most games, balancing things out so no one class has the advantage.

the big issue is the server lagg. things aren't exactly happening in (close to) real time like other games. would be significantly hard the way current classes are set up too.

i suspect 2.0 might have more of this but be intresting see what comes in next few patches.
